Lately, my contest rankings have not been great, I keep doing worse and worse, and now I feel stuck in Specialist. :(

When I first got to expert, I genuinely thought I improved, I thought I could keep climbing higher. But ever since then, it’s just been a cycle of dropping, recovering a little, then dropping again. Now I’m starting to feel like I was never really an Expert at all, I am just a Specialist who got lucky for a few contests.

The worst part is that I feel unable to improve. It feels like the contests I did well in were based more on luck than actual skill, and every bad contest makes that feeling stronger.

I just don’t know anymore, was I reaching Expert with actual skill, or was it just all luck?

I'm also a "hard stuck specialist enthusiast" and expert for a few contest. I'm also shared this kind if feeling ngl.

The suffer mostly comes from taking too many contest (and get a huge chunk of minus delta) I believe.

If you focus on just solving problems and do something else it will just go away. Only do rated contest when you're healthy and ready for it is the best, don't force anything. Even try to skip the contest and save it for VC later for the sake of self-observation will help.

Last but not least if everything seems "bored" or "unfun", just take a break.

I guess it is just because of LLMs I have been facing the same, as I can solve 2000 rating question in normal, but now getting stuck at D and sometimes C also. I think they are making contests harder day by day because of LLMs, but it is affecting normal people, not the cheaters

looking at your problems rating distribution, you have barely solved any good questions in proportion to the number of questions you have solved, it's all under 1300-1400 rated, ig start solving questions atleast +200 than your current rating.

I became a Candidate Master after solving around 2000 problems.(I also have an alternate account for practice only).

For someone like me who has no IQ, 900 problems are probably far from enough.

Note: When I achieved Candidate Master, LLMs couldn't solve Div.2 B/C problems. Becoming a CM was much easier at that time.

dw about it i also got stuck quite a bit between specialist and expert, kept going down and up for months. Consistency in cf is extremely hard tbh, only way to improve it is by doing virtuals and solving higher rated problems than ur current rating. So keep going and try doing virtuals on a lot of divs, try also solving 1800s and 1900s. And learn basic graphs and dp if u don't already know them.

You have reach specialist, I am not able to reach pupil even though i try hard. Whenever I reach 1000 my next contest gets bad and my rating gets minus

bro i think you should start doing hard problem

because you did too much 800 rating question almost 350 out of 795

i think that is reason you did not able to perform in contest.

if anyone did not like my advice(then you can ignore it).

Rating is just a number, bro. Sometimes it doesn't truly reflect your abilities, so don't worry too much about it and focus on improving your skills. You'll soon reach a higher rank. Also, I think the expert rank is quite long, so staying there for too long isn't a big deal. Be confident! I think with your hard work, you'll soon surpass it. Good luck!
