Good day, Codeforces
I honestly didn’t want to bring this up again, especially since I’ve already spoken out about the issue of negative contribution blogs. But recently, something far more serious has come up — and it can’t just be ignored.
There’s a user, sunsetinParis, who initially appeared to be engaging in the usual behavior we see from users farming negative contribution. While that itself is disruptive and annoying, it’s sadly not uncommon on Codeforces. However, this user has now crossed a line that should concern everyone in this community — he has begun posting openly racist content, particularly targeting Asians.
Yes, I understand the typical argument: “Don’t give them attention, that’s what they want.” And normally, I’d agree. Trolls thrive off reactions. But there’s a difference between trolling for downvotes and actively spreading hate speech and racial discrimination. If we ignore this behavior now, we silently normalize it. Other users who also chase negative contribution might start thinking, “Oh, so I can just say racist things and still stay on the platform?”
That’s dangerous. And unacceptable.
Even worse, sunsetinParis has been pinging MikeMirzayanov repeatedly, bringing attention to his blogs — and yet there’s been no visible response, no moderation, no ban, no action taken.
So I have to ask: Why?
Why is someone allowed to repeatedly post harmful content targeting a major portion of this community and face zero consequences? Why are the values of respect, diversity, and inclusiveness — values that many of us believed Codeforces upheld — being so easily disregarded?
I’m not speaking up to "cancel" someone. I’m speaking because I care about this community. Codeforces is one of the few rare places where people from all over the world — regardless of nationality, gender, or race — come together to celebrate a shared love for problem-solving and programming. It's a community built on merit, collaboration, and respect. That kind of environment doesn't sustain itself — it requires us to protect it.
So here’s my call to action:
To the moderators and MikeMirzayanov: Please take a closer look at this case. If you want the platform to stay safe, inclusive, and welcoming, this can’t be brushed aside.
To the community: Don’t let things slide just because it’s easier. Don’t let silence be the reason someone else feels excluded or unsafe here.
Racism has no place in Codeforces. Not now. Not ever.
UPD 1: After my blog was posted he deleted all of the public posts which included racist slurs. But my friend 3.144285 has evidience in his blog
