I'm happy to announce a project of our lab (Algorithmic Biology Lab in St. Petersburg) — a problem solving platform for algorithmic problems in bioinformatics: rosalind.info!

Those who like programming and want to learn some bioinformatics concepts will definitely like it.

It starts with easy programming exercises (for Codeforces people), but comes to some hardcore graph algorithms, dynamic programming, etc. You can both improve your algorithmic skill and learn a whole new area at the same time.

Bioinformatics is fun — try it.

I'd like to announce an automatically generated, fully customizable, importable to anywhere TopCoder Event Calendar!

Just select to competition types that you're interested in, and add the resulting iCal to your Google Calendar, Yandex.Calendar or whatever you're using to organize your schedule.

Hello, everybody! I've created and shared a public Google Calendar that holds dates of Codeforces rounds.
I'll do my best to keep it up-to-date at all times.

Codeforces Google Calendar

There's a button in the bottom right corner that allows you to see this calendar in your google.com/calendar without any further manual updates.

If you're not using Google Calendar you can view/follow/import this calendar as iCal or XML.

And note that with Google Calendar you can set SMS and e-mail notifications, in order to never miss a Codeforces round. Not only can you do this for a single event, but I also recommend you to go to the Settings menu and set automatic notifications for all events of this calendar.
