Hi everyone,

I'm excited to invite you all to be a problem setter on HackerEarth for our monthy rated contests.

The process for a submitted problem idea being used in our contests is:

  • Submit your problem idea here
  • The contest admins will review the submitted ideas.
  • If your problem is selected for a contest, the contest admins will reach out and ask you to prepare test cases and an editorial for the same.
  • Your problem will go live!

We have three algorithmic contest every month, here is the table:

Contest Number of problems Approximate Difficulty Length Comments
Easy 6 Like Codeforces Div. 2 3 Hours
DS and Algo challenge 3 Easy to Medium-Hard 1.5 Hour
Circuits 8 One approximate problem and 7 algorithmic, from Very-Easy to Hard 7 Days More educational, less competitive, we could use classical problems

The rate card for setter compensation can be found here: HMCs rate card

Currently we don't have enough medium/hard problems, so if you propose a nice problem it may be selected for the upcoming contests.

For further clarifications please feel free to contact support@hackerearth.com

No it's not a scam (can't believe I have to spell this out) There has never been a form on the hackerearth website. Where exactly were you looking for it ? Will ask for it to be added there.

As mentioned above, we usually have 3 contests in a month and have a requirement of 17 problems per month.

The reviewing of problems is always an ongoing process since if a problem is not shortlisted for this months contest cycle then it might be shortlisted for the next months cycle and so on.

Why is the compensation for problems in Easy and DSA half of what it is in Circuits (for the same difficulty level)?

A circuits easy problem is not necessarily equal to an easy problem found in short contests. Since circuits is a long contest, we often tend to choose implementation heavy and educational problems which are slightly more difficult than those found in short contests like DSA and Easy.

EDIT : We're looking for more Medium/Hard problems, so if you propose a nice problem it may be selected for the upcoming contests.

Yes, we're actively looking for more problem proposals and looking to give every setter a chance. If you're submitting a medium or hard problem then they might be considered for the upcoming contests.
