MikeMirzayanov The event happened on the 5th, 8th, and 10th years of anniversaries. And it's going to be the 13th Anniversary a couple of months later, seems like it will happen according to the pattern. I wonder if the donation campaign will happen this year. (I want to get a badge)

UPD: petition to open fundraiser campaign to buy better servers MikeMirzayanov

It appears that there is no sequence of numbers in OEIS beginning with 5, such as (5, 8, 10, 13, ...), so it is unlikely that there will be a donation campaign this year.
Edit: There is also no sequence of numbers beginning with 5, such as (5, 8, 10, ...) lol

I gave him the idea that another anniversary could be in the 13th year. Anniversaries might not be following a pattern, but it's fun to think they do and try to find it.

I had 2 ideas about a possible pattern:

    1) Every 5 years there is an anniversary. 5 years is a long time so between every anniversary they wanted to add another one. There are two possible middle years between two years and they chose the bigger one. With this pattern, the chosen year between 10 and 15 would be 13.

    2) Anniversaries are Fibonacci numbers (5, 8, 13, 21, ...) with every 10 years being outliers (Except Fibonacci numbers that are multiples on 10). With this pattern, 13 is still the next number.

There are many different possible pattern ideas that you can find if you use OEIS but these are the ones I came up with myself which are simple enough. If anyone has any other pattern ideas that aren't too obscure, I'd love to hear them.

If we had a 3 year anniversary, I thought of:

      f(n) = f(n-1) + f(n-2) — f(n-3), with f(0) = 0, f(1) = 3, f(2) = 5.

      The sequence would be (0, 3, 5, 8, 10, 13, 15, 18, ...), which is basically adding 3 and 2 alternating

the pattern says it will happen

I don't think there is a strict pattern. Most likely, Mike is just picking the nice numbers (10 is round, 5 is half-round and 8 is power of two). So, my guess is that this year there will be no donation campaign as 13 is not "nice" by any of mentioned criterios.

Indeed, 13 years is a symbolic and significant date. Crowdfunding would be very desirable. Unfortunately, PayPal is no longer available and I have not yet found a very good way to accept payments by card without the big risks of bank blocking and/or excessive bureaucracy. You may have to use third-party platforms (such as Patreon). But I liked that everything happened on our site. If you have good ideas on how to launch, then write back.

Crypto, of course, can be added and everything is fine with it. But far from everyone has it and freely uses it.
