What is a "proper ancestor" in a tree? (Dominator Tree)

I'm currently reading this blog in order to learn Dominator Tree:

And I don't understand what it means by "proper ancestor". Could somebody please explain this to me?

I don't know the data structure in question, but a proper ancestor refers to ancestors of the node which aren't the node itself.
