I never expected to lose my ability to play chess, but it happened. My mind is no longer able to function as it used to, and this has gradually started happening with competitive programming as well. I don't know how to fix this, but I think it's a rough psychological period that has lasted for more than six months.
sorry for my poor chat GPT English
Having 3 bad contests in a row doesn't mean you're "losing power". You can't accurately gauge your skill off of only you best or worst performances. Skill is something that comes from practicing consistently and learning from your mistakes. If you're doing that honestly then your skills can't be getting worse.
Thank you. You’re right. I really need to start focusing more on training and skill development rather than just rate
perhaps long-term side effects of the covid vaccine?
lmao, no way the iq guy is also against vaccines
agree. this is one reason might be others as well.
real
you can see this guy was stuck at Specialist for about 4 months https://i.imgur.com/cnb0gXN.png
But that doesn't mean he wouldn't get to Expert or higher. In reality, he is now a Grandmaster and is also participating in IOI!
No matter how many times you fall or how slow or how fast you improve, if you keep practicing you will get better.
Sometimes u just need a break :), and restart!!
same happened with me so i just stopped looking at rating.
I am down 150 elo from my peak on lichess last year, I think it's because I got covid and it rotted my brain. I went on massive tilt streaks several times. It's so bad that my chess.com elo is now more than 30 points higher than lichess. I think it's ogre.
Not on topic, but I always wanted to ask.
How is online chess possible? Wouldn't they be filled with not sport behavior, players who just copy moves of AI? Say, you play with me. Your move is e2-e4. I do the same move with computer. Computer response. I copy its move to the game with you. And repeat it in cycle.
(Nothing of it applies to offline chess and loss is likely outcome).
There is cheating detection in chess, and it’s a bit easier than on Codeforces, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t cheating as well
How? In cp it's possible by looking on style of programming. I have never played chess online, so, practically, I ask a question I didn't google before. due to loss of power, so please understand.
They match your accuracy with the engine If someone plays the best moves as per the engine continuously then they are flagged suspicious. At higher levels of chess its fairly harder to detect because GMs can find those moves but in those situations there are tools like centipawn analysis which help. So a person rated 1200 cant drop a 95-99 accuracy consistently without either being a smurf (in that case they usually climb really fast) or using engine.
Would it be nice if we played together?
Are you sure there is no deflation on lichess? I'm 250 points lower than my peak 2 years ago.
what is your elo ?
Right now it's 1982 FIDE and 2067 on lichess (blitz).

It's private because I don't want to leak my openings during tournaments.
My friend told me there was deflation but I don't think it can be 150 elo in 1y. I googled and saw some threads where they said it deflated by like 70 points in a year last year (but at that point I was at peak). I also checked the people I beat in "Highest rated victories" to see their ratings and most of them had only dropped around 30 elo. Also, my percentile dropped, and I think if it was actually because of deflation then the percentile shouldn't change.
What? You're doing really well so far. I can tell you that even if you succeed or fail, you're still going up. Just if you start to lose hope and decide to stop, you're going down. Bad marks? Then you have lots of things to learn from your mistakes, they're really valuable if you know how to use them wisely. Stay determined.
Bro actually posted to a blog to self pity...
At least i don't make heroes
At least I can solve problems without thinking of it as "powers" lmfao
I get this feeling too sometimes(See my profile). But, I'll suggest, just keep practicing and learning; you'll break your peak. Another thing that binds me to it is the thrill that contests offer.
Sometimes I'm certain that my rating will go down, but I still go ahead and can't stop myself.
these kinds of things happen to everyone. writers call this "writer's block", readers call this "reader's block" etc. don't fret, take it easy and you'll do fine. hopefully ;)
good luck!
edit: also dont look at ratings and standings too much, they affect your performance too. better if you use the mirror sites during contests which are minimalistic
i don't think you lose your power it just bad time for you and you will be stronger in the future .
just keep training :)
thank you brother
pray to god to return your powers. He will return.
