China participants violating IOI rules

I was looking at the standings of IOI 24 and found out that Jiyu Shen was disqualified.

I found that other than orzdevinwang (who conquered the IOI 2024) all three of the particpants were having phones in their bag which resulted in disqualification of Jiyu Shen and the 50% score decrease of the other two participants on day 2.

Is there any rule that says a 50% deduction is reasonable?

    though they have to be in complete isolation where they cannot contact with their leaders or any other becuase the leaders have problem statement for the upcoming day so they may have known problems as well

      Yes. But the four China participants are participating in the competition for the first time, and perhaps they don’t know the detailed rules. In some competitions in China, it is allowed to place powered-off electronic devices in bags in designated areas.
