On November 16th starting at 1:30 PM US Eastern Time, the 2024 ICPC North America South Regional will take place. This year, galen_colin and I will host the official contest broadcast, starting shortly before the beginning of the contest, on the ICPC Live YouTube channel. During the stream, we'll
- Follow the scoreboard and discuss the contest
- Discuss the problems and possibly solve a few of them (though unlike some of my past personal ICPC streams, solving problems and competing for the highest score will not be the main goal of the stream)
- Talk about the teams competing to advance to the 2025 ICPC North America Championship
- In keeping with recent tradition, I'm hoping to share some fun facts about the competing teams. If you're the contestant or coach of a competing team and want to share a fun fact for me to read on stream while covering your team, please comment below or send me a DM (including your university and team name).
- Answer questions asked by viewers
- If you have a question you'd like us to answer on stream, feel free to comment below!
- And more!
The South Division includes the Mid-Atlantic, South Central, and Southeast North America regions. Teams from all three regions will compete on the same problemset and scoreboard, and the top few teams from each region, as well as potentially some extra teams from the combined scoreboard, will advance to the North America Championship. Historically, these three regions have been highly competitive, so we should be in for an exciting regional!
The contest website is at this link, and open mirrors for the two divisions will be held simultaneously with the contest: Division 1 and Division 2. Division 1 is meant for teams with competitive programming experience and will decide the teams advancing to NAC, while Division 2 is meant for teams with less competition/CS experience.
We hope to see you on the stream! Good luck to all of the participating teams!
ICPC are too hard, most of us dont want to see these posts. it scares me how hard the problems are, i wish i was smarter

Auto comment: topic has been updated by Geothermal (previous revision, new revision, compare).
Was there any onsite clarification for problem G Intergalactic Team during the contest? The idea seems pretty straightforward, but my solution keeps failing on Test Case 14.
Yes, there was an error in the problem statement (and implementing a solution consistent with the statement does give WA on test 14).
In the statement,
should read
This was clarified to onsite teams about 80 minutes into the contest. (In other words, if u -> v appears in the statement but v -> u does not, neither u nor v can be in the eventual team.)
Is there a way to upsolve these problems?
Yes! Take the problem URL from the contest, like
https://open.kattis.com/contests/nasouth24d2open/problems/perfectsquares
, and simply remove the contest part to gethttps://open.kattis.com/problems/perfectsquares
. You can then submit your solution there.
