ICPC WF 2026 Team List

Hello Codeforces,

Earlier this month, the ACPC (African and Arab Collegiate Programming Championship) concluded, determining the teams qualified for the ICPC World Finals from our region.

I decided to write a blog post to gather the full team list somewhere (yes, I know this is very early and most championships are still in March, but I'm so excited anyway, and I already had the script for the ACPC list, so why not!)

      wanting them to get disqualified on a technicality, just so that you can qualify is fucking insane

      for context, this guy's rank at AWC is 16 and as of now, the cutoff for qualifying seems to be rank 14

        1) I do want to qualify. WF has been a dream of mine. 2) I dont want to qualify on the basis of someone else not qualifying. That is just wrong especially when the teams are just too good and the geopolitical conflicts are outside their control.

        I swear whenever I see this DNR guy comment it’s just controversies and hate. Could you please just stop assuming everything. (Btw i even asked chatgpt to make the question more polite and it still offends people smh) I want to know what has happened previously in such scenarios. I can only find 2 such scenarios which happened previously where they were given either rule exemption in which a slot is taken from the regional and the other where they are given a wildcard where a slot is not taken.

      During AWC it was clearly mentioned they can't participate due to ongoing geopolitical issues and I assume that implies they are also exempt from having to participate.

      Hello,

      First of all, I would like to mention that the current situation in our country is very difficult in many ways, especially with the internet. Seeing a comment like this as the first thing after finally managing to get online for a short time was honestly very disappointing for me. I wish this kind of discussion had not happened here.

      Anyway, based on what I know (and this is just my understanding, not fully confirmed, because we have not been able to follow this properly), the Tehran site has had a direct World Finals slot in recent years, including this year. Our team is using that slot.

      Other Iranian teams usually compete in the West Asia Super Regional (I may not have the exact name right), where teams can qualify for the World Finals based on the contest rules. Unfortunately, this year we were not able to participate there. I do not have clear information about what will happen to those teams.

      Also, in previous years, the top team from the Tehran site also participated in the West Asia Super Regional and usually ranked first. However, their participation there was not officially for qualification, and they still used the Tehran site’s slot to qualify for the World Finals.

      Again, I want to emphasize that I do not have any official or confirmed information, because the situation has been very difficult and we have had more serious issues to deal with. It has not really been possible to follow this topic closely. However, if we receive any official updates, I will share them here.

How is team rating being calculated ?

    Roughly speaking, a team with ratings $$$x_1, ..., x_n$$$ has a team rating of $$$x$$$ if a person of rating $$$x$$$ has a 50% chance of beating people of ratings $$$x_i$$$ in all of $$$n$$$ consecutive duels.

    More formally, it's the solution to the equation $$$\Pi_i \frac{1}{1+10^{(x_i-x)/400}} = 0.5$$$. Since the left hand side is a strictly increasing continuous function from $$$0$$$ to $$$1$$$, this has a unique solution.

    There are bots that compute this value; for example, TLE bot has such a feature.
