cGPA vs Programming Contest

If a person loves programming too much and can never concentrate on academic studies which one he should prefer mostly?Programming or cGPA?I'm asking this because i worked too hard and spent too much time in coding in the last few months but didn't get the desired result!I started programming too late.It's almost 2 years.And i started participating in contests 8/9 months ago.So it's taking too much time for me to fill the gaps.I just have 2 years left of my graduation.And my cGPA is going down semester by semester.So i just have two choices left.Either i have to continue spending most of my times in coding to become more skilled or i have to give much time for academic courses to make my cGPA higher.But i really prefer programming over everything.Though my performences are not that much good till now but i want to give my 100% for it to become a very skilled coder before next year.I'm just frustrated and confused!I would really appreciate some suggestions!

if you prefer programming then do it! why bother about CGPA ,even so it shouldn't be that difficult to handle both at the same time.if you are feeling it to be difficult ,choose whatever you want .good luck . p.s — programming is too addictive to leave once started so..........

I started programming from 2nd year 2nd semester . But I never felt that it was too late . Some of my good friends started programming from 1st year , but din't able to continue . But I did , and surely I learn more from them .

I always prefer my dream & personal choice . I always run for my dream . So my suggestion is , 1st choose your aim , than go for it . But don't confuse with your dream like this .

    Thank you so much vaiya!I definitely prefer programming over everything and that's my dream!That's really inspiring that you are doing really great although you started too late!But i guess you also faced some difficulties at the beginning,can you give me some advise that i should follow?

      I always liked to high cGPA . I also ran for this . That's why I was unable to fully concentrate to my programming . But it was not a big deal . I surely continue my programming and try to reach my level best .

      Still I face problem on Geometry , Dynamic Programming , Math etc .

      Only advice :- Solve many many problems . Also solved hard problems . Make a dream to reach world final . Make proud your parents , your varsity and your friends .

        I'm trying to solve more and more hard problems.And hope to continue that. I don't know if i can make it to the world final but i'll try my best.Thank you so much for your advise vaiya :)

Even I face the same problem , as you said CP is very addictive. 
I have noticed that I'm starting to procrastinate  by solving problems when I start studying for my college exams.
