Hey Codeforces!
I’ve worked with Addepar and the broader 8 | family of companies in Silicon Valley throughout 2014 and 2015, and it’s been an excellent experience. I would encourage everyone in the community to learn more about the great work that these companies are doing and I’m happy to announce that 8 | Partners will be hosting the 8 | VC VentureCup on Codeforces! It’ll be a fun contest and I’ve worked on the problems along with a few competitive programmers in our network. The contest will begin on February 13 and consist of two rounds.

THE CONTEST
The contest will occur in two rounds:
Round 1 is online and takes place on February 13. Round 1 follows regular Codeforces rules and consists of 7 problems. For this round, the complexity of the problems will be comparable to a regular Codeforces round. There are no eligibility restrictions to participate in the round.
Round 2 takes place on February 28, consists of 5 problems, and uses regular Codeforces rules. The complexity of the problems is higher than a regular Codeforces round. We will invite the top 20 local finishers in Round 1 to Woodside, CA to compete in Round 2. In addition, we will invite the top 200 overall finishers to compete online.

What about T-shirts?
When T-shirts are top tier award during a contest
#justcompetitiveprogrammerthings
Yes, for top 50 overall finishers.
GL & HF!
Is Round 1 rated ?
I was going to ask the same :)
Yes
Excited about this contest... :)
Do I take it correctly to mean top 200 finishers of round 1?
"We will invite the top 20 local finishers in Round 1 to Woodside, CA" — What does 'local' mean here? Bay Area residents? California residents? Or someone can pay his travel cost?
Local means anyone who can join in Woodside, CA without transportation help. This will be asked about during contest registration.
Hmm, I registered but it only shows this: http://imgur.com/SqSGWGt
Edit: Fixed now.
Did you notice new information about t-shirts?
One t-shirt from each company, overall 8 t-shirts?! :D
I think it was better to decrease the first place prize and increase the number of t-shirts :D
"The complexity of the problems wil be comparable to a regular Codeforces round"
Does this mean the difficulty of the contest problems will be something like: Div 2 A, Div 2 B, Div 1 A, Div 1 B, Div 1 C, Div 1 D, Div 1 E? Or will the problems all be Div 1 level.
Compete or go to premiere :<
I registered for the contest but missed the additional checkboxes in a rush, one of which I guess was to specify if I'm able to attend the onsite. Is there a way to re-register?
You can cancel your registration from the page with the list of the registrants. After that, you can re-register for the contest and those checkboxes will show up again.
Ah, I totally forgot how to cancel registration. Thanks!
YuukaKazami wrote his last official contest 198 days ago.
And today I saw this: YuukaKazami is registered to 8VC Venture Cup 2016 — Elimination Round!
Maybe it is return of YuukaKazami. YuukaKazami, good luck and have fun. Solve many problems!
Maybe he(?)'s been registered by the authors :-?
No contest in 2 weeks :(
Maybe it's a good thing to practice more for the next round.
Will unoffical participation for Round 2 be allowed?
Is the final round going to be rated?
Apparently yes.
But I don't understand how the rating will be calculated. I qualified for the final round so I wonder if I am considered to compete only with those 200 guys or with everyone in div1?
I think rating changes will be calculated separately for final round and mirror round.
i think they will be calculated together :D because it is unfair to decrease some masters in the finals because they were like 150/200 in the finals
Round 2 for Div1 & Div2 was not announced and explained, will it follow the same Codeforces Div1 & 2 rules? what if a qualified contestant from the first round wants to take part in his division contest?
I was invited to onsite though didn't get into top-200 in the Round 1. System doesn't allow me to register to "Final Round" because I am not in top-200. Should I go to onsite but compete in "Final Round (Div. 1 Edition)"?
Will the round be rated for div-2 participants who will participate out of contest?
"We will also hold rated, out-of-contest participation for both div1 and div2 contestants."
