How do you — Competitive Programmers :) — maintain your motivation ? what strategies do you follow to keep yourself motivated ?

I am not talking about a guy who doesn't like CP and wanna motivate himself to do tasks, this question aims to see different strategies competitive programmers do to keep themselves in the mode :D !

If you're enjoy doing competitive tasks, you don't need motivation at all. Otherwise, you should re-ask yourself why do need it? If your aim is really meaningful, you will keep doing it. Just think about result and enjoy the process.

Success is not final, failure is not fatal . it is the courage to continue that counts. As long as i ain't going to stop i will improve . Everything will be fine in the end , if it is not then its not the end :D just pushing yourself one step more :)

Find someone stronger than you and try to reach his level, competing in contests and solving the problems he solved.

Do you think that children need motivation to play with toys?

Children don't need motivation to do anything, they just do everything and anything as they're "exploring life", and following their curiosity.

On the other hand, competitive programmers surely love programming "or they have to go find something else to do", but just as sport they are competing, a football player surely loves playing football, but sometimes they tend to have hard times losing in a raw — suffering injuries — etc ..

Same for programming contests, sometimes you have hard times losing and need motivation :)
