Hello Codeforces!
I'm pleased to announce the first championship hosted on the Codeforces platform. Welcome 8VC Venture Cup 2017!
8VC will be hosting a coding championship on Codeforces. The championship will begin on January 15 and take place in 2 rounds.
The contest will occur in two rounds:
- The Elimination Round is online and takes place on January 15, 17:05 (UTC). Elimination Round follows regular Codeforces rules and consists of 7-8 problems. For this round, the complexity of the problems will be comparable to a regular Codeforces round. There are no eligibility restrictions to participate in the round.
- The Final Round takes place on January 22, consists of 5-6 problems, and uses regular Codeforces rules. The complexity of the problems is higher than a regular Codeforces round. We will invite the top local finishers in Elimination Round to Woodside, CA to compete in the Final Round. In addition, we will invite the top 200 overall finishers to compete online.
Cool prizes are offered to winners and best participants.

"For this round, the complexity of the problems will be comparable to a regular Codeforces round."
As there are 7~8 problems, should I expect that "regular" refers to a combined division round here?
Yes
@Mike, if some of the top 200 don't register for the Final Round, can the next top contestants in the scoreboard take their place?
Will the Elimination Round be rated?
Yes
rated for div1 and div2? or only div1?
for both of them.
Smart way to increase entropy in codeforces database =)
How many top finishers will be invited on-site? Not that I see some chances, or would be able to come anyway ...
or what does "Local" even mean? Woodside? CA? US?
As far as I remember, last year "locals" were people who could come on their own. When registering you had to choose whether you were a "local" person or not.
Oh to be considered as local contestants, we have to pay the trip by ourselves?
And also would be great to know what is "top local finishers", and what is "local winner"
finally site is live again
Eng only?

For God's sake, change your t-shirt design this time! I felt embarrassed when I wore last years t-shirt with logos of 8 companies on back of it!
could you share a photo of it?
Front:
Back:
P.S: after re viewing t-shirt, I changed my mind. It's not bad, but still can be better.
As for me, it looked nice even with 8 companies on the back. The motto "The world is broken. Let's fix it" sounds pretty badass.
I count 9 companies. Is there something obvious that I'm missing?
I've just repeated the number LiTi mentioned above, as you can see there were in fact 9 companies last year.
Judging by the fact that previous year there was a different set of companies present, and that in the blog post it is written "8VC FEATURED COMPANIES WITH OPEN POSITIONS", I think that there are actually many companies affiliated with 8VC, but not all of them are related to the contest from year to year.
Is people willing to pay the flight ticket considered as a local contestant?
is 'people' singular in the US?
Not in this case. It can, however, mean something like "nation", in which case it is singular.
Application form is broken. Let's fix it.
It's an integer after all.
Is the contest is not rated??

Let's say that out of the top 200 there are X people who won't participate in the Final Round. Will you invite the top 200+X or only the ones who can participate from the top 200? You can do a pre-registration so you know who are the top 200 filtering only the ones willing and able to compete.
Will there be simultaneous versions of the contest (like last year) for people who either didn't participate in the elimination round or didn't place in the top 200?
Yes.
I missed the elimination round because my flight was delayed, is there still a way to participate in the final round as a last years' local round winner?
Unofficial Div 2 Edition will be rated or not?
