Maintaining tradition from last year and the year before last I want to start a list of participants of the International Olympiad in Informatics 2017.

This year IOI will be held in Tehran, Iran between 28th July and 4th August.

Official website: http://ioi2017.org/

Facebook page: ioi2017.org

Update:

Check out the new version of this list with sorting and CF rating (updated by CF API):

High School/Secondary school grades aren't universal though, perhaps their age or how many more years they will be eligible for IOI would be more useful.

Added some approximation of "grade", but KieranHorgan is right, it is really hard to have unified term for each country.

12th Grade is the last year of second level education isn't it? So it would probably be easier to convert to other systems if we just say that 12th grade is the last year of your "High School" education. So I'm in my third to last year, therefore I would be considered to be in 10th grade.

The number of completed years of education doesn't mean anything, but the number of remaining attempts does.

I'd suggest to change it to the number of remaining attempts now, while the list is quite small.

I guess Keiya Sakabe is KeiyaSakabe. This is the last IOI for all four Japanese students.

By the way, there's an interesting story. This year the top 14 people of JOI Finals were invited to the team selection camp. Four of them are eligible next year. Two of them are twins, and the other two are also brothers. That means next year the team members can be two families.

But I have other interesting story in the team selection camp, the 5-th place person, 6-th place person and 7-th place person (The border is 4-th place) are eligible next year.

We go to USACO training camp for 10 days and the ~12 top scorers throughout the year take a series of tests, which will determine the final team. I'm not sure about the format since this will be my first time.

The Israeli team definitely does this. The issue between Iran and Israel was known in advance and you can check IOI General Assembly minutes for discussion on this matter. IIRC Innopolis University has invited the Israeli team.

Not sure about the US team. It would make sense though.

It has nothing to do with "me don't going to IOI". Let me tell what is a "bitchy move",

Turkish olympiad committee decide to some schools not to participate team selection contests. Because of that muratt, ykaya, _Eren_, Bugday, Bera won't have places in Turkish team, even if they're in high school now.

I just don't think about myself only, I am sad about these people can't have they deserved.

I personally adore the olympiads, even this year, I did teach lessons in Winter Camp, write problems for Team Selection Contest and I want Turkey to be good at it still. But quality of our team is a lot worse than last year and it's not students problem. I don't have any problem with them and I didn't say "I hope they will suck at IOI". I want them to be good.

PS: Sorry, but don't accuse people with stupid things and shut up when you can't think reason of something.

They are two participate condition this year.

-Your SBS Point must be grater than 490(on 500 points), which is a exam for high schools. This didn't effect so many participant. determinism's point was 489.5 so he didn't get a change for team selection contest.

-You must studying in your high school from earlier than 12/31/2015. This is for to cut out students from specific high schools, which are shut down this year because of politic stuff.

So here we are with a fucked up Turkish olympiad this year.

Something like sum of the following:

                1. Four contests explicitly marked as "qualification" during the selection camp — 1200 points max. That excludes "training" tours in the selection camp (which are very similar to "qualification" tours). Contestants know in advance which is which.
                2. All-Russian olympiad — 800 points max.
                3. Contest consisting of three problems from past IOIs — 300 points max.

This way Daniil is ranked sixth because of low score on the all-Russian olympiad (he was ranked 30th).

                  That sounds weird.

During my IOI camp the jury selected such problems that 90% of participants scored 300 during the first hour of competition.

The purpose was just to make sure the contest "from past IOIs" wouldn't affect the potential candidates at all.

This time, jury didn't tell "It will scores like 4 other contests", so it should be ok. It was more like 4 contests + ROI, but as I said they didn't show us scoreboard.

Are you guessing this figures and system or you know for sure? If it is official, why contestants were not informed? It is like coming to the contest where you do not know how (and which of) your solutions will be scored right till the end of it. Would you enjoy participating in this? Or the second variant, the worst suspicion — the system was invented AFTER the end of qualification tours so that the desired team was selected?

I have no idea on when the system was invented, whether it's official, and whether contestants were informed; only heard some rumors. I have not participated in the last summer camp at all. I think participants can provide much better insight on what was announced to them by the officials.

It seems that in the last 4 years (5 including this), Cuba had only one contestant and the last 5 years before that, there were only 2 participants (source). I'm curious to find out the reason for that, too, but I believe that it might have something to do with lack of funds.

Due to budget problems, the Cuban Ministry of Education does not allocate the necessary funds, not only for the IOI, but also for the IMO, IPhO, IChO, when someone participates, it is only a student, sometimes no one participates. In the last two years I stayed in second place, I wanted to participate in the IOI.

Aand did you try (or, are you at least allowed) to organize a fundraise? In most of the countries, there are enough companies interested in the development of the future generations that would happily support, at least, part of the expenditure. Something similar happened last year with Venezuela and they finally made it to IOI. I believe you could do some research regarding this issue. Maybe fund raising actually is a solution to the problem. Anyway, I'm sorry that you and others like you couldn't make it to international olympiads...

Yes, we have researched on the subject of financing, but in Cuban society there is little culture about such campaigns to support people or groups so that they can out their activity if they lack the necessary funds or the budget provided by the government it is insufficient, there is even much fear or political resentment that prevents an effective campaign of collection. On the other hand we have not found in the country the legal framework that allows us to do so and we have not found the support and interest institutional that we would like from our ministry of education.

Sorry for taking so long to respond.

Seems like cow02 is participating in IOI 2015 and 2016. If he can participate all his future eligible IOI, he will participate 8 IOIs. I want to know what is the current record of number of participations in IOI.

UPD: Seems like Gennady Korotkevich (tourist)'s participation is 7 and currently this is maximum. The infos are here.

Is it really such great achievement to participate in several IOIs?

My point is that if there's no one older who can (or want) participate, that might be related to some problems with education...
