API is not working

When I try to use the Codeforces API it sends this message:

503 Service Temporarily Unavailable

When will it be up and running again?

Sorry but, can any one explain what is the importance of API and how it works ?,thanks in advance.

    I use it to choose problems to solve and contests to practice.(using some tools I developed which use codeforces API)

    I'm sure many other users use it for many reasons.

    There are tools that only work with codeforces API.

    Import contests on clist.by works through API.
