I want "GhostOfSparta" handle but I am denied telling me that this handle is already taken. MikeMirzayanov please allot me this handle if it does not exist.
PS: As pointed out by dreamoon_love_AA, subhamdubeyinfo previously used this handle and has changed it now. So now I should be given access to this handle as it not not held by anybody.
PS: Settled this with "Gost0fSparta" instead of "GhostOfSparta". Hopefully the difference is not visible :p

Because it was used by someone before.
But the search result shows nobody :(
If you connect to https://mirror.codeforces.com/profile/GhostOfSparta, you can know who he/she is now.
You could do Gh0stOfSparta if you really want it.
But why should I? Like this many handles will go wasted!
The default policy is once you have taken a handle, that handle would belong to you forever. You can ask for a change in the policy. I like the policy as it is right now though. It can create some confusion if suddenly someone takes up a popular handle after its original owner changed it.
Well then as I said in the above comment because of this policy so many handles would go wasted every year.... So I think we should change this policy. If we want to avoid chaos as pointed out by you, codeforces can publish a list of old handles and their new handles every year.
Lol, it's not like space of all possible handles is small so we should worry about filling this out. And don't tell me that this list would avoid confusion. Looking into it would be an effort I don't want to take on everytime some funny boi takes handle like TooSimple etc. Seeing some Chinese humour I think these guys will likely be exchanging their handles between each other :p
Well its a debatable topic but lets just respect the rules and follow them.
