In last few years Ive been participating in Indian On-line Contest like Byte-code , KOPC, ITRIX , Insomnia etc. and placed in top positions to be eligible for prize money . Some of them like Bytecode , codechef etc. sent the proper prize money But unfortunately from most of the other contest Ive not yet got my prize money for a year .... for many times I contacted with them but most of the times they didn't reply .

I must say prize money is not all in programming contest , as most of us participate in that contests just for fun , excitement . But pre-declaring they will give prize in Codechef , but not giving that amount is kind of cheating in on-line commitment .

So , as I say , I always appreciate for their effort in On-line contest , but if they are not eager to send money to the competitors then I request them don't declare about prize money to attract more contestant and advertise their university .

Me too. Why we should to write a contest if it hasn't got any prize. But some may write it for themselves, but what a delightness without prizes?

You shouldn't accuse Indian contests in general or contests using "etc.". You may only accuse the exact contests that you suspect to have cheated you.

It's likely that there are Indian contests that you didn't participate in and which send money honestly. Is your post fair regarding these tournaments?

This also happened to me once or twice. And also, I feel that some Indian contests have too strict time limit and confusing / ambiguous problem description. So usually if I have something better to do, I would not participate in an Indian contest to avoid the stress..

I know it is not good to blame Indian contest in general, but there are just too many contests and it's impossible to exactly identify the "bad" contests..

Correct. I once participated in several Indian contests, and almost all of them had bad problem statement like missing constraints etc. Therefore, most of the time we have to rely on the clarifications or our own assumptions.

because most of the times the prizes are for Indian students only. but i think they mentioned the eligibility for getting prizes.

I participated in an Indian contest named Manthan in 2010, and two members of my team got our names printed incorrectly in the online certificate. We emailed the organizers back and didn't receive any response.

I participated again in 2011, and have not received the certificate until now.

I think I will not participate again in that contest... :(
