Jarekczek's blog

I see not only me often wondering What was the cause of the minuses? I think there are several potential reasons, like:

  1. wrong / false
  2. unkind
  3. spam
  4. language quality
  5. not agree
  6. other
  7. upd: not funny
  8. upd: boring

I assume the reason to have downvotes and upvotes is to increase the quality of content. I think it's awesome. I learn a lot from it. But to allow users (including myself) to improve their posts, it would be nice to have statistics at downvoted blogs and comments, showing the downvote reason.

Having said that, I consider this not just another feature request, but something that may substantially increase user content quality and in the same time help users to improve and develop. Isn't that what's CodeForces for?

I think usually users think that the poster has written or commented something to get positive, so they give him negative, and sometimes they're right!

actually when a user like to get contributions this makes him write a good comments or blogs and that makes quality of comments better , so I think no problem if one tries to get positive votes and get them when he deserve that.

at least this is my opinion.

I think there is one more reason:
7. A Monkey
The monkey opens his browser, goes to codeforces.com and looks at "Recent actions", there is some discussions in these top themes, there were recent comments, thats why they on the top.
Also there is some comment with a lot of negative voices, this discution is seems not interesing for the mokey, monkey don't want read this discussion, that is why monkey just downvotes it without any reason.

Do you recognize yourself in the actions described above? Do not want to be called monkeys? Then do not be like them.

I am sure my list is not complete yet. Being not funny may be another reason :) I am thinking of one of my recent comments now, really :)

Alias, you are the guy who frequently asked the question in title, you inspired this blog post, so I had to answer.
