It’s that time of year again — the Hacker Cup team is excited to announce the schedule for our 2020 season, kicking off on July 24th!

To compete, you can register here at any time between now and the end of the qualification round on July 27th.

This year, we will host the final round virtually rather than in-person at a Facebook office, given the current global situation. The finals will take place towards the end of 2020, and details regarding the schedule and live stream will be announced later on.

We’ll also have some exciting news to share about this year’s season… but not quite yet. Stay tuned for a bigger announcement in early July!

Thanks, and we look forward to seeing you on the qualification round’s scoreboard!

Update 1: Facebook post announcing the schedule can be found here!

Update 2: Facebook post announcing greatly increased cash prizes for 2020 can be found here, with more details available in the FAQ!

It's like that "Yes! Finally! It's here" meme minus the part where you wake up!!!

In those two rounds, submission times will affect scoreboard ranks but will not affect whether you to advance to the next round (which will only be based on how many points you score, as in previous years). Also as in the past, you'll only have one 6-minute window to submit to each problem upon downloading its input, with your last submission to each problem scoring 0 points if incorrect.

Glad that this is happening, even if the announcement is a bit sudden. Maybe update the Facebook page for Hackercup?

Hello. Last year I made top 500 in round 2, should I have received any email regarding the prize distribution? I didn't receive any email.

If I should have, is there someone I can contact about this?

I don't know what website to log in to participate in this contest. Is this held in Codeforces, or other Facebook platforms?

its of 2019 i think??? The Competition will be held in a series of rounds online between June 14, 2019 and July 27, 2019, with the onsite final round held at a Facebook office (to be determined)

Hi, good question. We're just waiting a bit longer before announcing the schedule there along with additional news; you can expect a post on the Hacker Cup Facebook page next week!

Hi, i think the terms and conditions of registration still use dates of 2019.

Do you have to be of a certain age or is this open to all high schoolers?

I believe it is open to everyone, even those not in high school. (There might be some requirements if you make it to the finals though, but I think that’s a “deal with it if you get there” sort of problem)

This sounds like a stupid question, but so does that mean an 8-year-old and an 80-year-old could do it?

Yes, I believe so. The 8 year old might have logistic issues with traveling to the finals if they qualify (and I'm not exactly sure, but you might have to be like 14 or something to make a facebook account).

However it seems unlikely that someone under 15 places in the very top of round 3, so for all intents and purposes, it seems like it is as open to everyone as a codeforces round is.

(I don't speak for the FHC team, and this is just my understanding of it which may be wrong)

You need a Facebook account to compete, so you do need to be at least 13 years old. There's a stricter age limit of 18 for the Final Round, due to legal issues around both travel and taxes.

We've just made a Facebook post here, announcing that we have a brand new competition site for Hacker Cup 2020! You can find all of the past seasons there as well, if you'd like to practice on past problems.

If you've previously participated in or registered for Hacker Cup, your personal info will carry over. However, you now also have the option to select a display name for yourself (like a handle), which will be shown alongside your real name on scoreboards; once you're registered, you can find that on your competition profile page.

Thanks!

When I try to submit to the grader on the Facebook website, it says "Sorry, an error occurred on our end while processing the submission" — does anyone have a solution? This has been happening for a week straight now .

Thanks for pointing that out, and apologies for any issues! We did fix an issue roughly 6 hours ago which had been affecting certain practice submissions up to then. Are you still unable to make practice submissions now? If so, could you please let us know for which problem(s)? Thanks!

Yes, the issue is still present. I did 2019 A, B, and C as well as 2018 A and B, and the same error occurred. Thanks!

For the record, occasional errors with making practice submissions should be resolved by now.

I created a Facebook account for this competition but now it says me to upload a picture of mine. So I did that and now it says,
"Thank you for sending your information. We have fewer people available to review information due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. This means we may be unable to review your account. "
My account of is now kind of suspended , what to do?
