Hey people!! I have a confession to make: This is a fake account. But before you judge me on it, please note that i never had any intentions to use it for anything bad like checking solns during contests, etc. I just wanted another account to stay away and alone from people.Lets get to the point now.

So recently i participated in Codeforces Global Round 10. I was originally gonna participate with my real account but didnt because the power went out just moments before the contest started and my laptop was going to die and i didnt want my rating to get messed up. Power came back after 20 min of contest, but i decided to finish this round using this account since i had already submitted 2. Now what i cannot believe is the fact that i solved 6 problems during the contest and got a pretty decent rank. Now i don't know why i always lag when i give contests with my real account(I am early purple). I wanted to know is it because of the peer pressure that i have when i participate with that round or did i just get lucky this one contest??? I really think that i am in a different mindset when i participate with this account(more chill) and i dont know why.....

Any kind of words would be useful.

Thanks for taking some time out to read. :)

The one who knows the answer is you yourself. How can WE tell if peer pressure is affecting YOU?

Just stop thinking that people will judge you negatively if you fail. It will help.

I mean, when I stalk profiles of other top coders, I always see how many times did their rating go down and yet they didn't lose hope and continued CP and now are much better than their past selves. Those kind of people are easier to relate to. Like, they too were performing bad at times.

Failure in some contests doesn't define your true value/skills. Just don't let it bother you too much.

Be it your main account or your alt account. Have confidence and enjoy CP.

Yes, you are correct. I'll tell you my story. I used to think similar. When rating of my this original account started falling, i created another account. I thought that I'd practice and participate with new account and once i get enough confidence, then I'll go with my this original account.

Then one day, i read one comment on a blog, a Master guy said that no one really cares of anyone's practice and ratings. If your rating increases or falls down, how will this affect to other users. It is your choice to do practice or not. Creating alt accounts are just useless thing. He was right. Then i realized his words. And instantly i generated an encrypted password and changed old password of alt account to that new one and also i changed that account's email id with some random email id. Now, I'd never be able to login to that account again because i can't reset the password again.

Now, i always participate in contests with this original account. I really don't think about what others will think about my rating. No one really cares/knows to anyone properly. Everyone has different mindset, different environment and different background. Just practice hard and utilize your time in learning. Don't waste your time in thinking about others views for you.

Always think that you can solve the problem. Also don't fear rating drop this much.

Even if your rating drops for some reason you can easily go back to where you were just by performing well in one or two contest.

So stay positive and have fun.

It is human to attribute explainability to things. But mostly it's just a coincidence.
