Chat service will be introduced on Codeforces on 24 of February, 21:00 (MSK). It will be alpha version. In short time there will be more functionality there. Please report bugs and your suggestions to me .

I like the chat service, too. If it does not come out, can we make a Codeforces IRC channel, maybe?

Nice to see another IRC users here! I have been wondering whether it is popular among codeforces users or not.
About the IRC channel, I think there are some details that should be discussed.
What network should we use? I have mostly been using IRCNet but I really don't know about the differences.
Who will be the channel operators?
Will the channel be "official" i.e. related to codeforces.com admins?
I joined to channel #codeforces in some networks (the first who joins usually gets the ops so just in case...). I wasn't the first one on freenode though.
