Recently I had watched a video where Gennady tourist Korotkevich said that upsolving doesn't help because that question will not be repeated in future contests. So, is upsolving a waste of time? Pls help.

That was purely a sarcastic statement. YOU DO NEED TO UPSOLVE!

First of all, that video is a joke and not to be taken seriously. Secondly, upsolving in theory is not necessary — it is solving problems harder problems than what is comfortable for you that is.

I can't believe you don't have sense of humor. Well, if you think so, then why participate in contests when problems will not be repeated in future contests? Do you want to become a grandmaster just by reading editorials?

You are a Newbie and you are wondering if upsolving is a "waste of time"? Nothing is a waste at your level. Solve problems — whether it's from a contest or a problemset. Escaping that responsibility under the guise of "wasting time" will only hurt yourself.
