As I wrote before only 1622 profiles on Codeforces have in their history a rating more than 2400 (February 2021). How many days are between the contest where a user became red and his first contests? Let's look at some top-users:
tourist — 333 days
Benq — 642 days
Petr — 428 days
Value distribution in group of 1622 users is (my code at gitHub):
These data obviously need clean up. The minimum days is 17. It is possible only for very experienced user. In order to know about newcomers it looks reasonably to drop out all profiles who became blue at the very first contest and reached red points more quickly than tourist :-)
There are only 784 users who fit these conditions. The mean value is 1160 days, median one is 1055 days. Anyway it is about 3 years.
Value distribution is:
If you spent 3 years and still are not red, and that's why sad, look at buko who kept trying for 3675 days
Though I didn't really practice on codeforces the first year.
Interesting stats btw.
Good series. Hope to keep updating. :)
Bro you dropped out Everule. I'm pretty sure there are other people as well who genuinely did it in less than a year (since becoming red is easier now)
since becoming red is easier now
Your previous handle suited you more -_-
Iirc red used to be lower rating (as in waaaaaaaaaaaaay lower rating) because less people participated in contests so your stats aren't accurate for Petr/tourist/anyone that was there since long ago.
I actually found the original ratings for that, tourist actually reached red in about 4 months...
Unrelated note: https://mirror.codeforces.com/blog/entry/126?#comment-1278 I just learned that if you mouse over someone's handle the title also appears :O
tourist was red+ level even before codeforces hosted its first contest(since he was the winner of IOI 2009).I think the data would be more accurate if you do it only for people who reached red in last 3-4 years.
