After the All-Russian Olympiad in Informatics 2026, some people said that the rounds turned out to be “strange.” This interested us from a data perspective, so to find something interesting, we examined how the scores at the final stage of the Olympiad and the maximum Codeforces rating are related. Special thanks to abs0lute for helping prepare the post.
Let’s look at the relationship for participants who solved at least one Codeforces problem in the past six months (since October 1, 2025):
On the graph: 27 winners (out of 40), 93 prize-winners (out of 204), and 62 participants. This gives an approximate formula:
(Olympiad score) = 73 + (maximum Codeforces rating) / 5.1
That is, with a rating of 1754 there is a 50% probability of becoming a prize-winner, and with 2309 a winner. This is an average estimate from a model that describes reality rather than defines it, so someone who never used Codeforces at all can still become a winner.
For comparison, you can refer to a post by AnodicPhotonic about the 2025 Olympiad, but keep in mind that it does not include a filter for Codeforces activity (for example, participants who hadn’t solved problems for six months could still appear in the statistics).
