We (ETK., flamestorm, AdhityaMangudy, L567, zhoukangyang, SHZhang, JohnVictor, duality, awang11, 79brue, codetiger927, bensonlzl, kingofpineapples, czhang2718, eyangch, xGaz_, Feet_McYeet, rayfish, Peppa_king_8, Wang238328, hyforces, lunchbox), current students at MIT, are excited to announce our new contest — the MIT Informatics Tournament 2026 Spring Invitational!

The invitational will consist of three individual contests: two Qualification Rounds and one Final Round. The top 50% of competitors (capped at 400) from Qualification Round 1 will qualify for Qualification Round 2.

  • Qualification Round 1: 10:30 AM – 1 PM EDT on March 15th.
  • Qualification Round 2: 10:30 AM – 1 PM EDT on April 5th.

For the Qualification Rounds, we expect a difficulty distribution roughly ranging from Div. 2 A to Div. 1 E. Please note that for Qualification Round 2 and the Final Round, the leaderboard will be frozen for the last 20% of the contest time.

The top 16 US, top 8 international, and top 4 US high school contestants will qualify for the Final Round the May 2nd – May 3rd weekend.

The Final Round is filled with exciting activities such as a dinner banquet, excursions in Boston, exclusive meetings with our sponsors, and solving super cool (and hard) problems! We will provide capped reimbursements for travel and lodging.

The contest will take place on Sunday, December 7th, 2025, and will be held in-person at MIT as well as online.

M(IT)² is a full-day competitive programming event hosted by MIT students, open to high school and college students of all programming levels. Participants will compete in teams of up to three in either the Beginner or Advanced division.

  • Beginner Division: 9–12 problems, 3-hour team round
  • Advanced Division: 2-hour, 4-problem individual round and 9–12 problems, 3-hour team round

We expect a difficulty distribution roughly ranging from 700–1800 for Beginner and 1600–3000 for Advanced (CF rating).

There will be over $5,000 in cash prizes, along with free meals and limited-edition merchandise for participants!
In-person contestants are also invited to our Activities Night on Saturday, December 6th, featuring games, food, and a chance to meet other contestants.

The registration deadline is November 23rd, 2025 for the in-person competition and November 30th, 2025 for the online competition.
Registration is first-come, first-served, so make sure to sign up early!
