To realize it's a BS on ans problem, you should know about what monotonic predicate function, what this means, Let's say if you suppose to check whether x is my possible answer or not, then greater than x (or less than x) will return the same result, means they will also be our possible answer so that's how we can just ignore either right or left side of x. Just learn about monotonic predicate functions.
