How do you recover mentally after a terrible contest?

I've seen people suggesting to stop caring about rating, and that rating is simply "meaningless internet points", but it's rather hard to not care when you watch the results of your efforts crumble away due to your own incompetence. Perhaps my performance is shit because I am shit, and I've simply been lucky to have performed better thus far. It sometimes hurts to even look at some contests' problems because of the pain they've inflicted upon me.

How do you deal with these feelings?

I've been gray for about a week now. The sudden burst of happiness that accompanied my change of color seems to be slowly fading away. I used to feel happy when I compared my rating with my lower rated peers, but that sinister source of joy seems to be fleeting as well. At this rate, I fear that I'll eventually go back to feeling nothing. I shall feel nothing, despite having achieved such a high rating. If this doesn't make me feel anything, will anything ever? Will nothing change even if I manage to climb higher? Am I doomed to feel nothing for eternity, chasing a feeling that doesn't exist?
