Hi everyone! I noticed a contest called "Go Study Round 1 (Div. 1 + Div. 2)" in the contests page. Does anyone have an idea as to what it is and if it will become a new contest series? I'm hyped for a new contest series :D

EDIT: Seems like they're Putin' it on hold :P

We (the authors) think that, if the round is combined, it will be more balanced than the non-combined version.

I think codeforces wants to further devolop other langs and contests styles like Go lang's contests and kotlin heroes ..... In addition to algorithmic contests.

I think it is a new series and also like it because combined round gives you more chance to push your rating up.

is this a "golang study round"? If yes, then... Sorry but what's to study here? Golang's syntax is extremely simple, its main study areas are related to goroutines, channels, garbage collection etc, nothing close to competitive programming...

I would Go Study editorial after each of these rounds.

I am an author of the round. The round is sponsored by a company called Go Study. The "1" indicates that there may be more rounds sponsored by the same company in the future. It has nothing to do with the Go programming language. More information will be present in the round announcement.

I believe the round has been delayed until they find another LGM tester.

UPDATE: I've heard that they also had problems with their sponsor, likely due to political reasons.

Yes. From what I heard, the round is delayed because the sponsor is reluctant to work with a Russian site during this political climate. Honestly it's kinda stupid, but I understand the hesitation.

Let me make some clarity, since I am quite irritated by how a random opinion is transformed into a truth.

      • Fact: "Sponsor prefers to move the round due the situation." This is known to me and to X.
      • I am asked (privately) by X: "Why?"
      • I answer: "I don't know, my guess is that the sponsor does not want to be associated to a russian organization"
      • X is asked in a partially public place "Why?"
      • X answers in a partially public place "what I heard is that the company sponsoring the round is hesitant to do business with a Russian company"
      • I immediately step in (in the partially public place) and say "No, that is just my wild uninformed opinion."
      • generic_placeholder_name, who belong to the aforementioned partially public place, writes in a public place "From what I heard, the round is delayed because the sponsor is reluctant to work with a Russian site during this political climate".

So, I, exactly as X and generic_placeholder_name, only know that the round was postponed because "Sponsor prefers to move the round due the situation". The whole "sponsor does not want to be associated to a Russian organization" is an uninformed wild guess and should not be quoted.

Maybe the title should change to Where is the Go Study Round 1? now.

It's a round sponsored by the company Go Study.

By the way, the round is delayed due to the Ukraine situation.
