We who are Muslims at least pray Friday prayer (Salat al juma).

So if I pray Salat Al Juma then I have to miss Codeforces Beta Round #51.
And alternative way is not better for me.

So what should i do ?

Many Muslims like me have to miss either Salat Al Juma or Contest.
Now what should we do ?

MikeMirzayanov Please pay attention to this Problem.

A bit offtopic: I wonder how Muslims do their Friday prayer in non-Islamic countries where Friday is a common day, so people work and learn at noon.

I searched TopCoder forums for similar cases but found nothing.

Still, SRMs don't occur on Friday at all, so there's no such problem there, either by coincidence or it was settled down without any public debate.

you're just not lucky.. :D
they can't set contest time which make no problem for every member.. some people school in contest time, and many other problems.. so choose your priority, i can leave school for contest :P ..

It is easy; just pray Juma and leave the contest. There will be still many Codeforces contests. Prayer is an obligation (in Islam) but contest is just having fun. Make your choice :)

I just can't believe how a Muslim can be in indecision about doing what ALLAH and HIS RASUL(SM) said!!!

Nobody in this world would say CodeForces contest is mandatory. But everyday 5 waqt prayer is mandatory for every Muslim. True Muslim won't miss any of his 5 waqt prayer. Yeah, in todays world there can be situations. I can assure you that a CF beta round is not one of the situations.

p.s: In Bangladesh, 1:10pm (roughly) is the average time of starting Salat-al-Juma. 1:40pm is enough time to say all your prayer. BF beta #51 will be started at 2:00pm in BDT. As you are in BD (as much I know) I don't see any problem at least for you...

The problem is not about time, it's about the day. As a Muslim, I would rather request MikeMirzayanov (if possible) not to set a CF contest within UTC 00:00 Friday to UTC 02:00 Saturday...

    Thanks for your kind advice.

You are studying in Shahjalal University (as much I know).
    In your versity student hall mosque Salat-al-Juma starts 1:30pm (roughly).(Azan->12:40pm , Discussion(Bangla) -> 12:50pm , Sunnat -> 1:25pm , Khutba(Arabic) -> 1:32pm , After ending of khutba jamat starts).
In everywhere of BD Salat-al-Juma starting time is almost like this.
Please give me your home address because i think a few mosque (near to your home) starts Salat-al-Juma at 1:10pm so that i can pray my Salat earlier.
    I am sorry to say,
You should know this "EXCEPTION IS NOT AN EXAMPLE".

yeah, you didn't say. but I thought, the question "what should i do ?" means your confusion/indecision.

and as a Muslim your words "Many Muslims like me have to miss either Salat Al Juma or Contest." hurt me. because t meant to me that we are in position of making choice about missing salat. (nauzubillah)

I knew varsity hall mosque delays a little while to give most students to take part in jamat easily.

Sorry, I didn't know varsity hall mosque is the example. The mosque near University gate, one mosque in surma(neighbouring place of University), mosque at bdr gate (another neighboring place), subidbazar, amborkhana, khasdobir, chowkidekhi, lohar para, etc are exceptions. I believe you at least know first 5 places. You may take part in the jamat of any of first 3 mosques.

I don't know how you know about the starting time of Salat-al-Juma in everywhere of BD like rajshahi, khulna, barisal, chittagong. In chittagong, the scenario is not like what you described. About sylhet, I'm being confused what I knew for last 3.5+ years, as because I'm in confusion with meaning of "example" and "exception". I know "exception in not an example". But it seems I have to learn the meaning of these two words. Can you please take a class about it? I would be grateful to you.

If you take part in the jamat of varsity hall mosque, you may 5-10 min delay for your CF contest. Is that a BIG problem?

If u hurted by my language please forgive me....

In my blog title i said that "why this occur?"
This is not about confussion or delay ,it is about "why this occur?"
        So please don't get hurted.

If blog title doesn't hurt, it doesn't mean that blog body won't hurt.

Through out the commenting, it's not clear to me whether I understood  wrong or you told wrong. I'm not willing to lengthen this commenting anymore. So I'm ignoring the comments, but like ask a few questions. I'm including my thoughts hoping it might help you to understand if I made any mistake and at which point.

          1. What did you mean by "So what should i do" and/or "Now what should we do"?
It thought, you are asking for suggestion about choosing one of two options 'Salat' and 'contest'. By first one only for you and by second one for many muslims.

          2. What do you think "Many Muslims like me have to miss either Salat Al Juma or Contest" means?
It seemed to me, its meaning some of (at least a few) Muslims are going miss 'Salat Al Juma'!

          3. Does "starting a contest after 10 minutes" means same to you as of "missing a contest"?

Sorry, I've found that with round is syncronized with offline official contest on Winter Programming School. So, unfortunally, I can't reschedule it. Sorry again. In the next time I'll try to make schedule more comfortable for all. Thank you for your understanding.

I think shifting it like 30 min later would do as fine as shifting it one or more days.Because 2:30 p.m is enough for everyone to finish their pray and take preparations for contest in Bangladesh. Of course if it is possible to shift :)
      Thanks :)

I am disappointed to see this post. I agree with sazzad and many others. Whether you will participate in salat or cf thats your priority. I will not say you must choose salat or you must choose cf. And it is completely your personal priority choosing. What you could do is inform Mike about the friday matter. But I found your posts and comments quite offensive.
