The ICPC Asia Pacific rules for the 2023-2024 cycle has just been announced in https://icpc.iisf.or.jp/asia-pacific/top/2023-24-cycle/. New to this cycle is the Playoff Contest, which is the contest for top non-winning teams from all regional contests in the region to qualify to the World Finals.

Does anyone know any updates? The thing I hear today(Yokohama Regional) is "the playoff will held on Vietnam, Feb 2024." Are there any announcement, such that the number of selected teams (for each Regional)?

Three of the regionals have concluded (Taiwan, Japan, Korea). The ones in Indonesia and Vietnam will be held in early December.

List of teams should be announced some time after all regionals have been held, but if you're impatient you can just compute the list based on the rules on the link and the regional scoreboards when all has concluded. From what I've heard, about 50 or 60 teams in total will be selected.

      Site score:

      • Taiwan: 31 * 0.56 + 102 * 0.24 + 36 * 0.14 + 265 * 0.06 + 2 * 0.3 = 63.38
      • Japan: 39 * 0.56 + 58 * 0.24 + 92 * 0.14 + 291 * 0.06 + 8 * 0.3 = 68.50
      • Korea: 33 * 0.56 + 72 * 0.24 + 56 * 0.14 + 329 * 0.06 + 1 * 0.3 = 63.64
      • Indonesia: 2023/12/02
      • Vietnam: 2023/12/07

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Cool, my team is 4th(striked out 2nd or later of Tokyo U, which wins the Regional) in Yokohama(KUB1sharp), so can we highly expected to advance the playoff?

Edit: You strikeout the entire Tokyo U since they're the winner. So you're rank 3 and highly likely to advance indeed.

            I think D2(4) should make him 3rd place in D2(6), i.e. R=3 in D2(6).

Actually if a team from University $$$X$$$ win a Regional, the other teams of $$$X$$$ cannot participate(strike-outed from)the playoff according to the rules. One exception is there are multiple Regional champions from $$$X$$$. In this case, they can decide the advancer by themselves, or use the playoff as the tiebreaker is also allowed.

Yeah that's true, my mistake. So that strikes out all of Tokyo U and you should probably prepare for the playoff now X)

I might be wrong, and my numbers are the following.

        • Hue City: 260*0.06 + 63*0.14 + 125*0.24 + 63*0.56 + 20*0.3 = 95.7
        • Yokohama: 291*0.06 + 92*0.14 + 58*0.24 + 39*0.56 + 8*0.3 = 68.5
        • Seoul: 329*0.06 + 58*0.14 + 72*0.24 + 34*0.56 + 1*0.3 = 64.48
        • Taoyuan: 265*0.06 + 36*0.14 + 102*0.24 + 31*0.56 + 2*0.3 = 63.38
        • Jakarta: 337*0.06 + 16*0.14 + 74*0.24 + 20*0.56 + 25*0.3 = 58.92

        Notes:

        • There are many high school teams in the Vietnamese national contest, and I removed them in my calculation.
        • There are three preliminaries in Taiwan, and teams from private and technology universities may participate in two of them. Each of such universities and teams is counted only once.
        • Jakarta haven't uploaded their standings to icpc.global, there is no official result yet.
