Hello everyone.

As you can see from my contests history, one day I will do very well, but in the very next contest my performance is rated at 1100 or so. I lost over 130 rating points in the last contest, which has been very frustrating. I know I should not focus on rating, but huge rating losses causes me anxiety and I can't train effectively because of the anxiety.

Thus, if someone suggests me on how to be consistent in contest performance and training, it would be very much appreciated. I also want to know what methods worked for you and what did not.

There are other factors to your performance other than your skill, such as: luck, sleep or just how you feel that day. Don't stress yourself about some rating loss when you know you can do better. Every contest in a way is a gamble, you can have positive or negative delta, but no one and nothing can take away your skill and your hours spent practicing. You practice for yourself and not for some number displayed on some site

Also, do more virtual contests, they are really helpful

I think perhaps one way is to take as many contests and solve as many problems as possible. By doing so, you would find a baseline on your rating graph.

i don't see 'huge rating losses' on your profile except for the last contest, -67 isn't a big loss if you can gain +82 as frequently. for the -130, you have to move on, maybe it just wasn't your day, maybe you just had the worst contest you'd ever have, how about bidding it a nice farewell?

I think last contest was polarising because many people could guess the solutions for the first three problems without proving them. From my limited perspective, the good problems starts from D and if you just had some bad luck and the solution for A,B and C didn't click to you fast, it was over.

You have bad days and you have good days. It is what it is.
