So when will change the logo back to codeforces?
I think this logo looks terrifying.

"Terrifying" is too harsh of a word, though I agree this logo change (without even an official announcement of sort) made me feel like we all have been forcefully drafted into a war of sort.
Disclaimer: I stand on the original ideologies of freedom that Durov strived for with Telegram, and I do feel the arrest was odd, but I also believe forcing everyone to take side without their consent isn't cool.
My poor english.>_<
Nah, I don't think it's poor, it's just your word choice was overtuned. It's okay.
thanks for precise formulation of this annoying feeling :)
I always thought programmers should be aside (above!) political and social unrests as much as possible, otherwise they could do bad things.
In this case though position of administration is straightforward — unless I'm much mistaken, Codeforces was supported (financially) mainly by Durov from the very early years, though not from exact beginning. So while I don't like this logo and see no sense in it, I understand that administration feels at least obliged to express this meek support.
IMO this applies to everything. Power in hand is always temptingly catastrophic.
Yeah, I did forget this. I still feel this out-of-impulse acting is a bit too much though, it could have been done better.
So if someone support someone financially and then it turns out they indirectly contribute to dissemination of child p*** and drug/people trafficking you have to support them? If the guy goes against the law when it's trying to track down people that do those things... Yeah I think he should be imprisoned
don't shoot the messenger
If the messenger is enabling those criminals then he's to blame. Do you know why google or facebook doesn't have those problems? Because when the police request data from them to arrest pedos they actually cooperate. Im not saying he's involved in those crimes, but whats so difficult about cooperating with the police? We're not in the internet of the 2000s where there was no law. Telegram should obey the law. They dont even have end to end encryption like whatsapp, there's literally no reason not to cooperate with the efforts to stop the spread of child p***. Downvote me all you want, but he's enabling this
"oh but we do it for the children"
every dictatorship started like that, sure telegram is not a perfect app but privacy is a human right, and i say that having grown up in a country where people were politically prosecuted for doing thoughtcrimes, so if you support communists, you can move to another dictatorship, no need to make more countries like that
that's really crazy cuz Google and Facebook have the most pedophile satanists
I agree with this. I don't know much about this whole incident, but I also don't want to feel that I'm supporting a specific side of it without even having carefully searched of what is happening. I think the administrators can show their opinion by writing a separate blog, but not by directly putting it in the logo.
I agree with you completely, and also in this blog, Mike talks about codeforces being a separate world, where only programming and such is discussed, and this kind of feels hypocritical. I am in support of Durov, but I just don't understand why codeforces has to do this.
@PTqwq_ Except Durov get out of the jail.
What's wrong with CF??? Codeforces is an academic community, or at least an academic website, why are there so many CP-irrelevant information popping up and even becoming official??
See my comment above — while I quite agree with you, this is at least understandable. Durov is a controversial person but CF relied heavily on his financial help for 10+ years.
cuz it's more fun this way
[DELETED]
MikeMirzayanov, could you please change the logo back to codeforces?
Thank you very much!
Considering that the TON community has been financially supporting codeforces, I think it would be hard for Durov to deny such a request. Maybe we should be a little more forgiving of an ad-free non-profit site.
the yoda from star wars as logo would have been cooler.
