Hi! I have a question: when you solve a hard (higher than your rating) problem during contest, but at the same time lose your rating, do you consider it a success?

no, becuz u know at the same time u fucked up easier question that you should've solved
The sense of accomplishment from solving difficult problems sustains you to keep going, doesn't it?
Well, kinda. But it still feels pretty sad that despite this accomplishment, you will lose your rating.
If you can solve hard problems, you should feel accomplished. Maybe you lose rating today, but trust that if you are good enough to solve hard problems, you will gain it back soon enough.
That's a good thought, thanks
i think the joy of solving difficult problems cancels out the sorrow of losing ratings.
It makes me very satisfied with my effort in the contest.
according to me, its progress and ur growing, atleast u tried. Good Luck. am sure u will be able to solve such questions next time.
Thanks)
rating is a social construct
embrace rainboy mentality
This means either the round is Speedforces round or you failed to solve a newbie problem, which means you have to reflect upon your skill or speed.
I think,it is successful.First, you accept the hard problem.Second, you know which algo. is weak for you,you can practice more directly.
depend on your goal,
learning? success
competition? failure
I call it a bad luck, it happened several times to me.
no
Even if I stumble, luck is always on my side ATTITUDE
