Don't worry about color/rating EVER. If you're truly good then that rating/color will definitely come back. Just take it as a reality check and keep trying.

Thank you! I believe it's always better to have your rating a little below your true potential rating rather than get lucky on a few contests, hit a peak, get a new color and stop giving contests in fear of losing color/rating.

See my contest history. For nearly a month from July to August end I was on a rating drop streak. Lost like 125 points in 4 contests. Finally then it took only 1 good performance to get +132 and my highest rating ever. And to top it all off, I acheived pupil in the very next contest...
So my tip would be to just hang in there during these extended rating loss phases coz your time will surely come!

In front of you, is a Master, who fell back Pupil once, back Specialist 5 times, Expert once. Thanksfully, I threw myself in Luogu and schoolwork earlier this year, I didn't play enough codeforces round. I think I should fall back to CM at least twice if I countinue participating. And I think when I reach IM I have to fall back to Master for at least twice.
But I fell back Pupil once, means I could reach Specialist for once more. I fell back to Specialist 5 times, I could reach Expert for 5 more times.
