The Montgomery Blair High School Computer Team is excited to announce this year's medieval-themed Montgomery Blair Informatics Tournament (mBIT)!

The contest will be held simultaneously in-person at Montgomery Blair High School and online here on Codeforces. Like previous years, in-person participation is limited to pre-college participants in the beginner and intermediate divisions, with the online mirror is open to everyone.

Details

  • Saturday, June 6, 2026

  • In-Person Event: 10AM — 3:30 EST

  • Competition Time: 11AM — 2PM EST

  • Teams of up to three people

  • $800+ total in prize pool and t-shirts!

Like last year, we will be offering three different divisions to compete in. Below are descriptions of each division. To better gauge the difficulty of the problems, visit our website to view past problems.

The Beginner Division is for teams who recently learned how to code or generally are beginners. This division will focus primarily on implementation and basic algorithmic understanding. No knowledge of specific algorithms / data structures is needed.

The Intermediate Division is for teams who have more experience with competitive programming. The problem difficulty in this division will range significantly to accommodate participants in the USACO silver to gold range (roughly 1200 to 1900 rating). Competitors should be accustomed with graph traversals, binary search, DP, etc.

The Advanced Division is aimed at teams at the USACO platinum level or higher. Most problems will be challenging gold to platinum level problems requiring advanced techniques and strong problem solving skills. In the past, teams participating in the advanced division have had average Codeforces ratings of 2100-3000.

All problems are original and were written by Montgomery Blair Computer Team members, friends, and alumni: gabrielwu, DanTheMan., JMK100, kchwoony210, FallingSky65, DavidW412294, bill.qian09. Special shoutout to DanTheMan. and omeganot for reviewing and testing the problems!
