Hello!
I'm happy to announce the start of 8th iteration of BubbleCup competition.
BubbleCup is "ACM-style" team competition organized by Microsoft Development Center Serbia held annually in Belgrade in September. Qualification consists of two online rounds which start on first of April and May and last for 25 days. Best teams will compete in 5 hours long final in Belgrade.
Teams can consist of high school pupils or students. Students must attend the same university. Complete rules can be found here.
Best of luck in the competition!
Aleksandar
UPD1: Second round starts on the first of May, not March!
Can different school students team up ?
Yes! There is no restriction for high school teams.
Does Microsoft cover flight and accommodation expenses for the finalists?
Microsoft provides accommodation in Belgrade during the finals and travel expenses will be covered up to some extent.
How many teams will be qualified for final round?
I don't know. Usually it was somewhere in range [15, 20].
You have all of the booklets uploaded on the website. You can check previous years tasks / solutions and standings of teams in the finals there.
Probably, it should be the first of May, not March
Indeed, fixed, thanks!
Looking at your announcement and also at rules at official site — they changed format of contest this year. Last two years there were 5h contest for school teams and 24h contest (with optimizational tasks, bot writing and so on) for students. So sad that they are back to ACM ICPC format for students.
I agree. I've participated in BubbleRun and it was awesome! Let's hope that it returns in the next iteration of BubbleCup. :)
Sorry to bump up the post. Does anyone here know if PhD students are considered "unversity students"?
From the official rules. Students (elementary, high school or university) born in 1991 or later, are eligible to compete in Bubble Cup. If PhD students are born in 1991 or later, they are eligible.
Is it OK to use the code, that is available on the Internet?
Yes, if you share it with us :)
What exactly do you mean by sharing?
Sent me a private message with solution :)
According to the rules I don't think so. Also, problem setters on SPOJ can delete your submissions if they see that they are too similar with someone else's, it happened last year IIRC.
