Why do you do competitive programming?
I know most of you does it for fun, but when it comes to practicing 5+ hours a day, I don’t think it should be just for fun (or you’d be wasting your time).
What do you think competitive programming would do for you? Get you to a college? A dream job?
One month ago (and until now) I’m practicing for minimum 3 hours a day, and this really affected my school grades. I don’t have much time for studying anymore. However I’m doing it to improve my skills in order to be able to achieve a medal in the IOI, which would boost my admission to one of the top colleges.
I was wondering what do you think, and why do you do it?
When I started, it was just because a friend of mine recruited me for ICPC. Back then, for me, it wasn't even a hobby. But, after I started participated in a few contests, I couldn't not participate. In fact, competitive coding has become a sort of "fixed point" for me. I cannot not do it (Even though I do not perform very well :p). Taking part in a contest is intrinsically fun. In fact, contests are what kept me going during hard times. A good contest washes away any and all baggage.
somehow this blog has very less comments(probably because it is 5 years old) and I was looking for more answers to the very question why do you do competitive programming?
I personally love CP(not exactly the competition part of it but the solving problems part), however I no longer get enough time to do it.
just wanted to read more answers to this, so writing a comment and bringing the blog in recent actions :P

To get WA on pretest 2
Coz it's always better to get WA on pretest 2, than get Accepted and fail on system tests later
Shuru majboori mei kiye the, par abb majaa aa rahaa hai..
(Translation : Started in compulsion, but now enjoying it.)
"To get placed in FAANG or big MNCs"
Wait.... I thought CP is a good way to spend time if you are jobless.
To forget about life for a while.
is that the horse from horsin around xD
name checks out.
I am here because I love problem-solving! and to develop my skills, My target is to get excellence to my skills.
Besides the fact that problem solving is cool and there are some really amazing "Eureka!" moments, it's also a great way to challenge yourself, to try to reach and even exceed your limits. Also, I love the competitive side of it (and even more when I get a big delta on a CF round :) ).
No lifer,No bi*ches,No future,No money ,this is only fun left in my life.
