Some of you must have received the following e-mail. So IPSC is coming back to us again. I created this topic to let people search for teammates (in case they want to participate in teams and don't have one).

Please comment below if you are available to join team and a little description about yourself.

Your favorite programming competition is back for its 18th year! We excitedly invite you to compete in IPSC 2016.

Internet Problem Solving Contest is an online programming competition for teams of up to three people. The problems range from easy to very hard, so everyone is welcome to compete. We also have separate ranklists for individuals and secondary school students. You can use any programming language, or even solve problems by hand. Most of the problems are algorithmic in nature, but IPSC is particularly known for its unusual and fun problems.

IPSC 2016 will take place on Saturday, 18 June 2016 from 11:00 to 16:00 UTC. Visit http://ipsc.ksp.sk/ to register, either as an individual or as a team of up to three people.

While you're waiting for 18 June 2016, you can also visit http://ipsc.ksp.sk/train/ to practice on problems from previous years of IPSC.

If you like IPSC, help us spread the word! Tell your friends, classmates, coworkers, internet strangers, et cetera.

Good luck in the contest, and have fun!

I wouldn't start this topic if I wasn't searching for team myself:

I participated last year and liked problems a lot, especially problem J — the one where you needed to dig up rusty assembler skills. I participated in team of 2, we solved 10 half-problems and took 212th place.

I personally solved 7 of them. My rating here is basically correct, though I am a usually a little better with competitions like IPSC, where you don't send your code to run somewhere and just run it on your PC — like GCJ or Facebook Hackercup. From my teammates I want only two things:

  • commitment — if we decided to participate, we participate. No last minute lame reasons
  • reasonable internet connections — I'd like to be able to have some form of Skype team chat during the contests. -

A bit offtopic, but still.
On June 18, there is IPSC at 11:00--16:00 UTC.
Right after that, there is TCO16 Round 2C at 16:00--17:35 UTC.
Any chance any of them moves to provide a non-zero gap?

In TopCoder there are only a few hours for registration. I don't remember how many exactly but it would be funny if one must register for TCO 2C during the IPSC.

Sorry, but it's not going to happen. (Well, TC still might move the TCO round to later, but given the history of that never happening, I wouldn't hold my breath.)

Speaking for IPSC, we are really trying to set a date that does not conflict with anything, and we are also trying to announce the date at least half a year in advance so that people can plan accordingly. We set and announced this year's date as soon as the CodeJam schedule was available, and way before there was any mention of TCO rounds.

In the past we did once move IPSC when it actually overlapped another important contest, but it did create both happy and unhappy people -- many who had the old date in their calendars were unable to adjust their schedule, and it required a lot of e-mails and notifications about the shift, and some people still missed those. If the rounds don't overlap, the costs outweigh the benefits. You'll survive it :)
