Hi!

Last times there was a post about quality of WF problemset. I also agree that they could be better, there were many other contests which consisted of definitely more interesting/better prepared problems. So here comes my question: what is your favorite ACM-style contest?

I'm asking mostly about quality of tasks, maybe there were very interesting? Or maybe something different caught your attention? Of course there is a lot of interesting tasks, but I'm definitely not asking about this kind of contests where there are 9 very easy tasks and then 2 very hard (but so nice) ones.

For example my favorite problemset was on CERC 2017, I think that there were many very interesting problems and they really needed no knowledge. I also liked problems from WF 2017.

Of course you don't have to choose some contest from the ICPC family. Maybe some snackdown contest was so cool for you? Or maybe you liked some contest from training camp in your high school? Write about it in comments.

My favorite problemsets evolves. For instance, I was amazed by the first contest I had met from Petrozvodsk (If I remember correctly, it was MSU Unpredictable Contest).

For now, my personal favorite are GP of Moscow and GP of Romania.

My favorate problem set is Kent Nikaido Contest 1 in Moscow Pre-Finals Workshop 2016.

I like all the problems written by Makoto Soejima and all the problems from MSU (Unpredictable, CMC, Trinity, Tapir, SG, Red Panda) and MIPT.

If I had to choose one, Ural Championship 2013 Battle of Giants is a remarkably good set. Generally, most contests by Polish and Japanese writers are pretty nice IMO.

NEERC and CERC are best (many problems with unusual ideas, no special algorithms are required to qualify for WF)

CERC and Warsaw U Contests are definitely my favorite. I hope Polish setters to release more their problems in English!

MIPT Contests were very interesting too, although there were some sad exceptions. I also like problems from Japan (JAG Contests / Atcoder)

Other problemset I liked :

  • kriii Contest 5 (Part of it was used in GP of Korea)
  • WF 2017
  • NEERC 2015 / 2016
  • Ural / Saratov Contests
  • ONTAK 2015 / 2016 (This is OI-style, but it had decent problems even the problemset wasn't well known)
