I feel that 1600 rating barrier to become expert is way too less to be called an "Expert". Hell, its just 100 rating points more than the default rating, and with the increase in div 3 contests, its just become too easy to cross the 1600 barrier. This is due to the fact that specialists are competing with noobies and pupils and its just very easy to gain rating against them and become expert.
So what i feel is that expert rating barrier should be increased to 1700 and div 3 should be continued to be rated for people below 1600,to stop the inflation of "experts" on this site. This a topic that needs to be addressed so MikeMirzayanov please consider this.
The ideal scenario is — 1400-1699 specialist; 1700-1899 expert; 1900-2099 CM and so on.....
.
Agreed.
In the last Div. 3 contest (Codeforces Round #582 (Div. 3)), when you got AC on 6 problems, you can have plus 155 (see __Sakura__ ), what that means, you only need to got AC on all problems with difficulty under *1600, and another problem with difficulty *2000 within 2 hours. And if you got AC on all problems, you can got plus 248 (see RNG.AmazingJ ), which means you only need to solve all problems under *2000 and an additional problem with *2400, that is at most all Div. 2 D and a Div.2 E
Interesting
can't agree more
dont make blue is new cyan
Firstly, there is no any definition for "expert". Secondly, why care about it so much?
Do you really want to change expert/specialists etc to "sucks", "sucks even more", "can't write a proper hello world" "still sucks but a bit less"?
Nope, but i want proper division between specialists and experts.
If you don't like the name, just call it "international especialist"
Just so we’re on the same page, we’re talking about changing grandmaster to “still sucks but a bit less” right? Sounds about right to me lol
good idea! I agree with you :)
yeah you are right i became expert in first contest i think the unrated rating should be 1000 not 1500 !
" A japanese friend told me that reaching blue in a div3 (and yellow in a div2) is dishonorable. "
riela
Yep. Coders who do that should commit sudoku.
But alas, .sudoku files are gitignored!
Thank you for expressing your opinion.
What if you just pay more attention to the actual rating and disregard the names? Way back, military names were used instead (http://mirror.codeforces.com/blog/entry/126). Now, would you consider yourself a "Liutenant" of code? Probably no. These names bare no practical meaning.
not gonna lie being a marshal sounds dope
XD XD XD
you first become an expert, then say something
who cares what you are called? Being called legendary newbie does not make one's rating go higher than 1200.
says someone who is still cyan :3
2 years of practicing and still a cyan.... I think that's where the frustation is coming from ....
I guess most of your friends must be in 1600 to 1700 and you don't want to feel bad about yourself for not being in the same category as them after 2 years or else if you really believe what you are saying than you would have set lower limit to 1500 instead of 1400 for cyan
But you seem to be a puss! to me ...
He only participated in 1 contest and last time he opened CF was 10 months ago... And now, Expert is pretty much easy to get by Div 3 even easier than before. All you need is some ad-hoc with brute force knowledge and knowing some implementation, and done. You reached the first of expert.
Also ,The actual competition or game starts in this range of 1600 to 1900. This 300 gap is the most flooded gap of code-forces IMO. And those who cross this huge barrier are really having good potential for math and cp.
For all the ranks I passed, I pretty much agree that passing Expert was not that easy. It took me 4 months from pupil to first time specialist. And 2 months from specialist to first time expert. And 6/7 months from expert to CM. I was very bored after reaching expert for a while knowing that I will take much time to reach CM. Also, levels gets harder to progress it as you get higher. Maybe after hard training, it would take me 6 months or more to reach Master :/
It took me 1 year seriously to cross specialist to expert, if you see my profile carefully and CM seems a dream now! All things which I have observed till now are based on fundamentals and base and math specially. If you are good at fundamentals, then crossing ranks may take less time. and after this luck and mood also contributes to one's performances.
Oh. Maybe maths basics helped me(although, what I knew in maths was only what I took in school in grade 9). But, I think what really helped me is the motivation of reaching IOI(International Olympiad in Informatics) 2021. That motivation motivated me for months where everyday I solve at least 2-4 problems which are harder than my level. But now, after I reached CM, I've got bored of normal CF and considered focusing on OI style contests instead. I lost a bit of motivation as I get more and more bored everytime. So, I am taking breaks a bit between my practice(by playing a video game like Valorant) so I don't lose all motivation for training from boredom.
Nice approach and good luck for IOI!
Thank you! Good luck to you too!
Big agree. You would get the feeling that you are real close to do that and then you would fall. After some attempts, it's possible to clear. There are a lot of people who reached 1800+ rating are currently in 1600 range. Because this range is versatile. But this actually starts from 1500, so 1500-1900 would be an interesting region for expert in my opinion. You see lots of 1500 guys are beating lots of 1800 guys in div2. The number is not few.
plz give some contests first ...you have given only one contest and giving your thoughts like you are a pro ........
