Note: The point of this blog isn't to offend anyone.

A lot of people say that people downvote just because the one who commented has a low rating. That may exist, but it is not in the proportion people say.

This is a fact: higher rated users have more programming skill than lower rated, and they tend to share cool ideas for solving problems or writing tutorials. Most tutorials are written by high rated users. That is alredy a factor that makes high rated users get more contribution.

You can see lots of lower rated users asking questions regarding problems or even codeforces that can be easily googled. This sentence may be polemic, but this are statistical facts. Most spam content come from lower rated or even unrated (I'm still unrated )-:).

In conclusion: since this is a programming community, higher rated users tend to share more educational content than lower rated.

Hope this will make people stop arguing so much about ratism.

UPD: I don't get why it got downvotes. I just said the truth, because, in my opinion, all thoose people complaining about downvotes and ratism are quite annoying. People like to belive on what they feel more confortable with, and not the truth. I want to stop all thoose anti ratism people. Reposting this because ot got hidden :-(

Besides sharing more educational content, higher rated users have usually been around longer, so they usually get the flow of the community better as well.

Why have you written the exact same blog twice

EDIT: first blog is now deleted

Why do people care so much about contribution in the first place is what's baffling. While on a blog it's understandable since negative votes would cause the blog to hide. (Which would be of disadvantage to a legitimate post. Even if it has been asked before.. you wouldn't want someone to look around for a 10 years old blog where possibly a person may/ may not reply and also would be full of comments.. thus making it harder for people to go through it, then asking in a new blog shouldn't be a problem) That aside contribution on comments should barely matter. (Just my opinion)

Well, yes, but attually no. You have the point but ratism is real :)) I have seen many lower rated users get downvoted for no reason and some high rated whose comments are similar get upvotes. First, they got about 2 — 3 downvotes from people who really dislike the comments, and then the others be like "Oh, people are downvoting this guy, so... why not?"

Highly rated users share most of the time, low rated users ask, that's the difference

I'll agree there is no ratism if you can give one good reason on why to downvote this blog when all the OP is doing is pointing out some bug

For some information beforehand : He was a pupil when he posted this

Also , if there's no ratism , then why do you care about it , and why don't you address this issue from your main account ?

Here's the paradox

Scared of getting downvotes , but why ?

If this blog is true and good then you will get upvotes on your real account because there is no ratism . Then why use your alt ?? (Ans -> ratism )

If what this blog says is false and bad , then there is ratism or else this blog would be considered true and good

I will note that I'm rather biased here as a high rated user who gets some of the benefits of ratism (which I believe exists, but not as much as most people think).

Your paradox's reasoning is rather flawed in my opinion. There are plenty of reasons for which a blog or comment will get downvoted besides the poster's rating. One of these reasons is when the blog or comment goes against a popular opinion. In this case that opinion is that ratism exists. So it's logical that someone who is posting a somewhat controversial opinion and doesn't want to risk contribution would use an alt.

But I do think that doing so is rather cowardly.

sometimes it is also about the respect you have for people.
I would not like to downvote someone from whom I have learnt be it from their blogs or codes even if I don't like the comment made by them.

In fact, high rated people can write literally whatever they want and still get upvotes

IMHO, someone downvoting or upvoting a blog/comment depends on

a) Current context,

b) Your perception of that user/person (Here, rating is also an input),

c) Comment content.

Weights for these vary.
