IS Chrome Extensions safe?

I come to know about lot of extensions which makes our life easier but now i am confused whether these extensions ensures our privacy or data.

is it safe to use extensions downloaded from chrome web store Please do Reply.. :)

not only for the chrome extension but anything over internet that we use "IF YOU ARE NOT PAYING FOR THE PRODUCT THEN YOU ARE THE PRODUCT"

Those with a pretty good amount of users and more positive reviews can be considered safe. You can't guarantee though. But you can check if a extension is malicious or not, see here. It uses this as mentioned in the post.
