Is this true?

I am in India so all the news I find on internet are just Indian articles or videos. Can anyone (from other countries perhaps) confirm if it is actually true that the Riemann Hypothesis has finally been solved?

If that's the case then this is a huge deal, it's one of the 7 millenium prized problems.

Am I the only one who feels that there should've been a bigger hubbub about this? It seems too quiet; why isn't anyone talking about it.

Update: I think this summarizes things pretty well: Is the proof of the Riemann Hypothesis by Prof. Eswaran correct? — Quora

Not meaning to belittle the mathematician who claims to have proved it, he certainly must be an excellent mathematician to be able to attempt a solution for a 161 year old problem.

That being said, that's all it is. A CLAIM. There have been hundreds of presented proofs for such problems, but so far they have all been disproved. When a problem persists for 161 years, it persists for a reason, most probably because it is extremely difficult to prove.

But hopefully (unlikely however) this proof may be correct, and we as Indians can rejoice that we finally have a Field's medal that was long overdue.

Regarding the hubbub, come on, who is interested in knowing about some guy who proved an age-old mathematical problem when you have much better news to view?

Yeah I was also surprised. But check Math Stack Exchange and Reddit. Basically, there are many inconsistencies in his proof. Quoting from the above Stack Exchange answer -

He takes a trivially true statement, then states that this implies something similar enough to sound reasonable to the layperson but falls apart under the smallest of analysis.

So, basically its wrong and hence no one is talking about it.

Uhm... just as a heads-up, the reddit link somehow doesn't load, and if I click "retry" some hardcore NSFW-stuff pops up.

I guess there is a "t" missing in your link ("o9rbbt" instead of "o9rbb"). Please correct that.

Fixed it. Thanks brother. That was some really NSFW stuff. Can't believe that a simple missing character can lead to such a thing.
Don't know how many people would actually go to the previous link to see what it was ;)

Actually, I have a marvellous proof to Reimann's hypothesis, but this comment section is too short for it.

Without reading I am sure it isn't.

No i think what he means is there have been many more similar claims in the past. So one can predict that this one is wrong too.

        Yes, that is correct.

This happens pretty often. Purported proofs of the Riemann Hypothesis spring up all the time. Most of them get debunked very quickly and a good chunk are not even wrong nonsense. But every so often, it reaches the media and gets posted on a news site because journalists usually don't have expertise in mathematics.

One day we might prove RH, but for now, when you hear from somewhere that it was proven, you can safely be 99.99999% sure that it wasn't.

Fine, I am taking the bait. India ranked 15th in IMO 2019, with a participant at 18th rank (He bagged bronze in IOI 2021 and is participating in IMO 2021 too). You can check India's year-wise performance here. India bagged 5 gold medals and 2 gold medals in IPhO 2018 and IPhO 2019 respectively. One of the 2019 Physics gold-medalist is a Master at CF now. A participant from India bagged 9th rank in IChO 2019. India may not have extraordinary performances in IOI as of now (however, I am hopeful that it will improve in coming years), which is particularly due to the Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics) culture embedded in our school lives. An average student learns CP in India in the first/second year of College/University. This doesn't mean imply the last few words of your sentence. Sorry for the long comment.
