It may offer motivation and insight, it can also lead to distraction and unnecessary pressure.
I personally feel that not seeing standings is better for me… For the past 5 contests I stopped seeing standings and unfriended everyone I only see standings after I have solved a set number of Qs. It has helped me a lot.
I think at all it is helpful but just looking at standing after solving a problem or every 20 minute.
