And if not, is there something on my end to fix these Bad Gateway / Gateway Timeout errors? (Other than somehow find better internet in my country?)

Yes, it's a common problem, but I don't know the exact source of it.
I think they occurs when admins update some parts of site.
I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't just me :)
502 and 504 are server errors, so yes possibly.
Fortunately errors don't appear during contests :)
