Hello Codeforces!
There has been several blogs similar to this. I know about TOP 15 most popular users on codeforces and Who is the most popular?. But as none of these are updated, I thought this might be helpful.
I have just calculated the most popular handles in Codeforces. I only considered those handles which have at least one rated contest. Begging my pardon to them who hasn't participated in any rated round. And here, the popularity depends simply on the number of people you are friend of.
The complete standings can be found here(This may took a while to load at the bottom).
Anyway here is Top 200 handles.

It's not a particularly relevant issue, but you should fix your table in order to have the same place for people with same number of friends :P
(i.e., positions 47-48, 65-66, 76-78, 87-88, 89-90, ..., 198-200)
It should have been said, most followed handle's rankings or something like this. But I go with this anyway. Of course populated countries have many popular contestants among them. And I have fixed this. Thank you.
But how??
It is curious how some people with not-very-high rating and near-zero contribution have so many followers. What am I missing here?
Right, so I can speak as to the people I know (from Egypt) fegla hyoussef and almost all the examples from Egypt on this list. They are huge contributors to the ACM community in the middle east. One other reason for some being on this list eg. KhaledKEE OmarHashim zetamoo mrtempo and a few other examples is them being the best in their regions (Egypt and/or the Middle East) and extremely popular locally.
I am sure it's probably the same for regions with big enough communities (India/Bangladesh, etc).
In every year, 5-7 national level ACM ICPC style contests held in Bangladesh. In each contest there are always 100-150 teams. So, for a person who is doing competitive programming for 4/5 years and having good results in these contests can be popular among themselves. This has nothing to do with their Codeforces rating.
Apart from that, the number of contestants from Bangladesh in Codeforces is very high. The newly starters have a tendency to add contestants from the top of the table.
Come on. I'm 484 :)
Because you are Batman )
I fixed it. You're 485 now. Happy to save you once, Bruce!
Thanks. But Batman doesn't need any help.
kingofnumbers You're famous man
It is interesting to see worse is the 112nd most popular.
And yes, he is the only Newbie in the top 200!
Any plans to bring an updated post??
