In Codeforces Round #637 (Div 1), pajenegod became the first Python user (to my knowledge) to become Grandmaster, with a rating of 2464!
Considering how much Python is derided by most of the people in the CP community, some people thought this was impossible. pajenegod has truly mastered writing cancer code in Python. Feel free to PM him for all of your Python needs :^)
* Sadly, this round retroactively became unrated. So I made this thread for posterity.
Too bad it's now unrated xD
This is a divine punishment upon Python.

I would like to think this was a catalyst, https://mirror.codeforces.com/blog/entry/62808#comment-468064
You can see the cancer Python at PyRival
Unrated? What? Why? And where is it mentioned?
In this blog.
Oh, thanks!
:orz:
One more reason to make the round unrated.
I personally follow his solutions from last 4-5 months and after the rating change when I saw that he became the Grandmaster, I was very happy for him, I was in the seventh sky because of two reasons, first of all he is a very nice person who even helps and replies noobies like me and second, he uses PYTHON (most of the times), I remembered talks of some of my seniors who always said to me You can't achieve anything in CP using Python. I guess he is an inspiration for all the Python users and he showed that language is really not a barrier at least up to Grandmaster (maybe Legendary Grandmaster in future). All the best pajenegod
You can spend a few days learning the basics of C++ (you don't really need pointers or any of the complicated stuff) or you can spend months learning all of the ins and outs and minor details of Python to become a Python master like pajenegod.
I know which one I would choose.
Thanks for your advice :) although I am slowly changing it whenever I required for example for Div2 A and B — I prefer Python because it gave me implementation speed but for Graph problems I prefer C++.
This is quite interesting, as I've often had this choice. I chose the latter, and I still believe that it made me a better programmer.
Having said that, my objective was never IOI or ICPC. My motives for doing competitive programming were completely different, and I had a lot more time to spare.
ChaosAngel You should see this
Thanks for the shout-out!
Btw this is what happens when I click on "Wow +133!" :/
Grattis ändå! Whenever I don't know how to implement something tricky in python, I check your submissions :)
Congratulations pajenegod. How every I being python programmer in cp am I glad to see these achievements and this is motivating me to go beyond the limits...
I guess TangentDay is not a full-time Python user, he is a part-time Python user but pajenegod is a full-time Python user.
TangentDay doesn't use Python at all in contests... I don't see a single Python submission from him in a rated contest.
pajenegod remains the one true emperor
Guys,
Are there any blogs/resources for python cp or let's make to share python tricks and make a community that will consist of python cp enthusiast. This will be helpful for better growth. What are your thoughts?
