I am interesting what do you prefer to eat or/and drink during a contest.

I know some people who bring red bulls and a lot of chocolate.

It is funny for me because I prefer to have only a bottle of water. I think that energetics might be dangerous for me(and I have never drunk energetics).

It's always nice to get some chugging practice in. Man, you know I'm keeping water bottles on standby during a contest!

Dates are a stable and kinda long lasting source of energy, on the other hand chocolates swiftly burn and transform into energy though they won't last as long as dates. For 5 hour contests a combination of dates, chocolates and sugary drinks would be optimal in my opinion.

It depends. When I take part in some onsite math competitions (or should I say "when I was taking part"?), I usually bring chocolate for I believe it to may boost my performance, though I don't claim to understand the entire mechanism, be it sugar delivery into brain, the process of eating itself, or placebo, or something else. Nowadays, during online contests, I usually make myself some tea (mostly to walk myself plus I love tea) or go to a coffee place nearby to grab some coffee (same reasons, but this takes places during team trainings, such as opencups, for instance, as we train in a place near a coffeeshop. Also we train in the first half of Saturday and Sunday, when I am often underslept).

This reminds me of another question I've been meaning to ask. Has anyone compared their performance under the influence of Ally/Mary? I used to think that Mary would enhance my performance but I actually lost 150 rating that day. Can anyone else share their experience?

It's funny that no one actually wrote "Water". I drink water during the contests, now you have to live with this knowledge. Stay hydrated!

A contest wouldn't really be complete without eating a rack of ribs and corn on the cob directly over the keyboard.
