Hello, I suppose I should apologise for the negativity, however I would also like to give my perspective in case anybody is interested.

1. I actually do problem set, and know the difficulty to make a good problem.

2. Maybe more than others, I am more particular about what is a good problem and not, in fact it is independent of my performance. For example, one of my best performing rounds I thought its problem C was really stupid and standard. I believe many people use codeforces as a way to find problems that are very problem solving heavy but more implementation-light compared to other platforms, of course that isn't to say I can stand implementation problems, but when you include many edge cases, it feels like an artificial, and unfun way to add difficulty. But rather than taking this as negativity, I suggest you take it as feedback, rather dwell on the issues.

3. Yes my message was harsh and I apologise for that. I should have worded it better, rather than take this experience as people hating you, try to take it as constructive criticism, its not meant to hurt you, its meant for growth, please don't stop setting.

4. Whoever is complaining about the queue, that is universal, so theyre just coping, same thing to those complaining about cheaters, there's always cheaters? except that one time that all the Indians took finals ig. So cry about it?

5. B is a nice problem lol, its hated for the same reason Xor factorisation is hated, which I think is just dumb, to understand a problem you should understand the full problem, especially if the edge cases are actually part of the problem solving.

If you can solve 1900s (which is the lowest problem difficulty that can be definitively fun to solve, go ahead as long as you enjoy it! sure your rating will never increase much, but who cares you're having fun.

This is a great blog. I think there are 4 types of people

1. The hardstuck grey/greens themselves

2. The people who enable them, essentially providing what I like to call "newbie welfare", these people are the ones that feed them the sugarcoated delusions and make them believe anything is possible if they work hard enough or do the right thing.

3. The realists, essentially people who are realistic, understand that deviation between expectation and reality can cause bad mindset, and is seen "negatively" by the people in group 1, for speaking the truth.

4. the people who just don't care, but most likely anyone reading this isn't in group 4

The biggest problem is group 2. I think if more people switch from 2 to 3, the delusion that newbies can become cm+ can be weakened and newbies will understand that there are talent gaps, and while working hard may let them do a bit better, there are clear talent gaps, especially cm+ which they will just never be able to reach due to a lack of talent.

the reason group 1 feels this is negative is because they want to be in control, but when they're not in control, its quite upsetting. My advice to group 1 is to just accept that you will never make it, enjoy CP for what its worth, solve problems, enjoy the observations, have some fun, yes perhaps its upsetting to hear it but if you cant change anything, what's the point in crying about it?

To people in group 2, I implore you to think — the way people value their self worth can roughly be correlated to expectation — reality where expectation >= reality. By enabling people who are clearly capable of never actually enjoying CP or being decent, all you are doing is artificially inflating how little they value themselves, which as OP said, is cruel and is nothing more than a delusion. Let them experience reality, understand where they stand and how they just don't have enough talent for CP.

TLDR: I think this blog explains this idea perfectly, and now more than ever, despite the age of this blog, this situation is prevalent as a problem.

I just thought of a cool game to play by using this extension and the cf cheater database.

Here are the rules. We first install this extension, and disable CF cheater database. Next filter by the country "India".

Repeat the following process indefinitely, each time successful adding 1 to your score. If you fail the game is over. Assume the predicate IsCheater and PredictedIsCheater, We consider a pass being IsCheater^PredictedIsCheater=0, and a fail otherwise.

Look at the top K (K can be changed but lets default to 100) and have a random number generator pick a submission. Check his submissions for the problems in the contest, and make a verdict PredictedIsCheater, check sucess by reenabling CF cheater database. If he is a cheater and reported, award yourself 1 point. Otherwise if he is not a cheater and you think he is, report him to the cheater DB and unfortunately you lost. Otherwise you guess wrong. Sorry.

If you guess sucessfully, congrats! Add 1 to your score and disable cheater database again. Go to the next contest down the contest list and repeat the process!

Please report your high scores as responses! I hope you enjoy this little game.

You know, after reading this I've done some reflection. In the past perhaps I was racist and assumed being stupid <-> indian, but this seems to be wrong, talent stretches far beyond that, and youre a perfect counterexample as youre not indian. So let me say this instead.

If you cannot get cyan in at most 6 contests, you lack the talent for CP, some may call this $$$IQ$$$ but I dont think its directly $$$IQ$$$ either. This may be a bit harsh though, and edge cases can be considered on a case-by-case basis. In your case it is aparant that you have no talent, or perhaps even negative talent. People who cannot solve atleast 1400s cannot experience actually nice problems in CP imo, and their "i love cp" is just cope. Problems (honestly below 1900 but ive seen the occasional cool 1500 or 1700 so) are so incredibly boring and uninteresting to solve for the most point, if you think theyre nice, no you really dont dont lie to yourself.

Anyways I would suggest quitting. You clearly lack talent or fail to understand the correct strategy to improve efficiently, that is to say, lack talent in improving, which is still lacking talent, so either way you lack too much talent.

Anyways, think about it for this way, whenever you want to solve a problem, you want to solve the simplest thing you can, I think this is true for many people (maybe not the top but blue/purple definitely). For me for div2 A-D most times by doing this these problems are solvable, ofc mistakes can still happen so I don't always solve A-D.

For problem a, there should be almost no reduction, just think of something simple, theres only so many ideas. For problem b it depends, but I'd say usually either theres still no real reduction and intuition can carry you, or there is reduction but with the reduction you get the answer example: notice something can only happen 30 times at most, brute force -> this is something i'd expect from a div2 B

For problem c and d you will make reductions or observations which lead to smaller (sometimes standard) subproblems, please make sure to prove all these reductions as much as possible, guessing is fine but you should not rely on it to build intuitition.

Hope this helps but do remember, if you dont enjoy the process, it is better to do something else, learn to enjoy cp for what it is.

There are 3 types, the "similarity group", the mentality, and the talent in terms of talent: one thing you mention is that you're not smart, I believe this is ok, my friends (and I) often consider me a "baseline for stupidity", however this does not mean I am demotivated in or should be excluded from my hobbies, one of which is cp. Talent has no correlation with similarity group and mentality. Please note this.

In terms of mentality and similarity group, these actually do affect each other. Certain similarity groups seem to lean to certain mentalities. Now since I dont know what group you belong to, I will not make assumptions, however one similarity group in specific are commonly cheaters or care about their ratings way too much.

If you are in this similarity group, my advice to you is to just quit. People in your group only care about results and will cheat on anything to obtain meaningless undeserved "rewards" for fake recognition. I suggest you quit CP in this case, especially if you do not enjoy it for the thrill of solving problems itself.

If you are not in this similarity group, my advice is to figure out what you really want to do. If it is cp, that is fine, but ponder it deeply, and think "why do i enjoy cp"

For example let me answer this question. I enjoy cp, why? I like problems that utilise multiple ideas in a chain that come together really nicely, yet outside of the problem these ideas would never be thought to work together, especially in an elegant way.

The initial reason I suspected that you were of some similarity group was due to failing to solve A after teaching DSA for 1.5 years. Most likely you are of this group, but again to not make assumptions, if you are not consider this: Don't overcomplicate, a div2 A should take 10 minutes at most, they are trivial. Even someone with far below average talent can consistantly solve div2 As without fail. If you continue to fail, you are very most likely overcomplicating it.

Its a fine idea, but make sure none of them are Indian or from similar regions, though why not instead of making any 4-6 trusted community members just have the contest setters flag them?

actually this already happens, contest setters during their round can skip submissions, and the skip can act as a flag. Why not just make an automated banning system for too many skips?

1 skip? (normal — penalty), 2 skips? reset rating (make it drop to 0) + banned for a month, 3rd time banned permanently that way nobody can argue its too strict, and the admins already have all the technology in place to do this (except for the part that bans upon 3 skips)

since rollbacks are sparse, between rollbacks users can appeal, and for each appeal any cm+ (since most arent cheaters) can vote yes or no, when doing rollback the skip is checked for if they were pardoned that way it is kept fair and contest author bias cannot skip people of personal grudges or other bias.

now the other argument is skipping is also possible when resubmitting. This is true but from the New years event, we can see that manual skip from system skip are separate tags (one said "no presents from santa this year" and the other said "naughty boy" or something I forgot exactly). So only mark manual skips (PLAG CHECK COUNTS AS MANUAL IN THIS CONTEXT BTW). This requires minimal effort from the admins to fix this problem.

anyways for the OP: forcing people to dox themselves publicly is not a good idea. There is a variety of reasons people do not want to dox themselves, and usually its because of other reasons, not that they cheat.

There are very few cases of Chinese cheaters, yet we hear about Indian cheaters almost every day. Both in cf, and these other larger competitions I've mentioned in the blog. Both have high populations and high presence in CP, yet one, by proportion, cheats significantly more than the other (which cheats very little, to the extent of it being negligible).

Also the queue and botnets were all by Indians, never by any other people. Additionally, according to the cheater database, the cheater database got DDoSed by someone in Mumbai, India.

This overwhelming evidence shows its not merely a case of population. Additionally, if I were to put in the effort I could make a graph of number of cheaters from country based on cheater DB / number of participants from country. However I feel no need to do that right now as there is overwhelming evidence already.

Additionally, I don't hate Indians for them being Indians. Its due to the mislead Indian culture who thinks cheating is fine as long as it gets them jobs in SWE (it doesn't).
